robingchanon Netflix Open Content

so, isn’t this using the s3 static website hosting feature - (im assuming due to the dir listing) which i dont believe does support https

robingchanon Netflix Open Content

this is hosted on s3 which doesn't support HTTPS, that said - if they used cloudfront in front of this bucket, they could save $$$ and have a SSL

robingchanon Why Android can't use CDC Ethernet (2023)

yes - ASIX / realtek chipsets are whats in your generic dongle, the drivers for which are bundled in iOS. CDC ECM is not supported.

I found this out when using CAN bus to ethernet on iPhone

robingchanon Precious Plastic is in trouble

I hate to say it but i sort of agree.

I’ve also followed PP from the initial grant in Paris but a lot of these problems seem to be self-inflicted. Ones that most stood out were having no insurance, unrealistic open source expectations and giving $100k away rather than furthering the cause.

I’m sure theres minutiae and context i’m missing but that post doesn’t scream competence.

I’m worried any donation would be fluttered away.

The line about being at peace with the project dying seems bizarre. Perhaps time for a little organisational shakeup

robingchanon Buttplug MCP

I do wonder what UAT looks like for such a project

robingchanon BMW Group Product Catalog–Historic Models

i looked into this a little bit - you’ll notice on realoem the catalogue is only 2019. I think this is also around the time BMW made the TIS system update and also knocked off newtis. ETK is the name of the parts catalogue pricing data iirc. I have the db, uses transbase.

robingchanon Winners of the $10k ISBN visualization bounty

robingchanon Self driving 1993 Volvo with open pilot

would the distinction not be on wether the vehicle is turbocharged? or did they use map/maf regardless?

robingchanon Companies need junior devs

i’ve worked with people like this - big egos were like a bag of lead the entire team had to carry.

robingchanon Google to shut down Google One VPN on June 20

I have Google One VPN which comes with the storage, I don't use it. If I were going to use a VPN I'd probably use a different provider even though I have the free access of one.

I think it's because of trust - I'm nervous about the fact it's linked to my Google account. Using a separate provider with a virtual credit card and an Apple email relay would be my choice.

robingchanon ModRetro

I have an Anbernic RG355V, i love it. The battery is great and it plays N64/PSX games flawessly.

robingchanon Google Cloud Spanner is now half the cost of Amazon DynamoDB

company im working at currently uses Token Vending Machine.

pros: cannot get accounts mixed up.

cons: All sessions are actually 12hr sessions (ASIA not AKIA) and no access to perm keys for cli, security i suppose. Its not too bad though as TVM gives creds for various use cases.
