I am a cofounder of NextView Ventures, a seed stage investment firm focused on internet enabled innovation. I try to spend as much time as possible working with young entrepreneurs and investing in businesses that are trying to solve important problems for everyday people.

I was previously a venture capitalist at Spark Capital, a leading venture firm focused on the intersection of media, technology, and entertainment. I helped to launch and coordinate Start@Spark, a seed stage investment program targeted at early-stage companies in the New York and Boston areas.

Before joining Spark Capital, I worked at Ebay, as the North America Business Unit owner for "Finding". In this role, I helped launch over 20 products that significantly enhanced Ebay's search, browse, and merchandising capabilities.

Previously, I was a Senior Associate at The Parthenon Group, a boutique strategy consulting firm. I was a member of the firm's Private Equity practice, and focused on the consumer and retail industries. Additionally, I have also held product management roles at Fidelity Investments, BzzAgent, and helped to found Letslink.jp, one of the first social networking sites outside of the United States.

I've been blessed to have a wonderful wife and daughter and spend most of my free time with them. I'm also a founding member and on the board of Highrock Church in Brookline, MA.

Do you have more examples of brute force approaches that have worked? I think it's often overlooked, and necessary even if you have narrowed the target audience as you have suggested.
robgo··on Why aren't you building your startup for early adopters?
I actually think that the problem I see more often is the opposite these days. Lean Startup principles have led more founders to build single features that a small subset of adopters might want, but little or no appreciation of why that wedge in the market will matter in a meaningful way.

Great advice - early as early as you can stomach or after the train has left the station. Most folks gravitate towards the middle ground where the risk/reward isn't really there.

Luckily, my two partners were doing better things. There was some selection bias, but not too much.
