robbbed··on Training a Human Takes 20 Years of Food
I get the feeling that this guy has never been punched in the mouth. Otherwise he might be more careful with what he says.
robbbed··on Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs Appointed Lieutenant Colonels in US Army (2025)
This seems fine. The question is will these execs still have ties to the tech companies they're supposedly leaving.
robbbed··on Framework supporting far-right racists?
What timing I was going to install Omarchy this weekend. I know very little about DHH so will have to do more research. My main concern is that if DHH is some kind of far right psycho how much of his beliefs will make it into the software he's building? Sure I can comb through the repo before installing but will I do that on every update? That's my main concern. However, I encourage everyone to DYOR before automatically jumping to conclusions.
robbbed··on The FAA's Real Air Traffic Control Crisis Runs Much Deeper
So what as normies can we do about this? Boycott air travel? Write congress? I'm seriously considering postponing any upcoming air travel. If a core component of safe air travel is antiquated and lacking in resources then it seems incredibly foolish to risk our lives any further taking this form of transportation.
robbbed··on The Towns Outsmarting Airbnb
100% on board. I really enjoyed using Airbnb but have boycotted them due to the damage they are wrecking on the real estate market. Now whenever I'm nomading I try to stay in coliving spaces rather than Airbnbs.
robbbed··on Devin: AI Software Engineer
That’s a good point. What’s always been strange to me is why we as a community allow this. We should boycott the Walmarts and Devins of the world. Drive them out of business by voting with our dollars.
robbbed··on Why I threw away your resume (from the crankiest recruiter)
Interesting. Really serves as motivation to put 100% of my effort into building my own product. It's a fair article and probably is good advice if you're looking to get hired. Just after 20 years in the corporate workforce I'm pretty tired of this shite. Fkn hoops to jump through.
robbbed··on A national war on realtors is gaining steam after $1.8B conspiracy lawsuit
In that scenario you wouldn't pick a buyers agent you'd go directly to the listing agent. They'd represent both parties in that example. I'd imagine maybe the seller can negotiate the commission down since the selling agent is getting both sides.

I'd argue we'll still need buyers agents in the future but not as many. If you already know the area and what you want then just look, pick a home and contact the listing agent.

If you need someone familiar with the area who can guide and negotiate on your behalf then you'll want a buyer's agent.

I think we can have both scenarios, no?

"Like a space monkey, ready to be shot into space. Ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good."
robbbed··on Ask HN: Comment here about whatever you're passionate about at the moment
Love the post and really digging reading through all the passion projects everyone is working on. My current passion project is actually planning my next passion project. I currently work for a FAANG company and I'm incredibly burnt out. I have two more rounds of stock grants I'll like to go through (last one is in March) and then I'm taking a year off to explore the stock market, AI, and would love to build websites and apps for non profits for free.
robbbed··on Burnt out engineer looking to break free from his golden handcuffs
That’s a good point and something I didn’t think about. Thanks!

I’ve grown that mainly over the last year due to the job I currently have (6 figures, stock grants, bonuses) at the expense of my time (logging about 10 hour days regularly). Ideally, I’d like to take 6 months to a year. I don’t mind working during this time, freelancing or what not, just don’t want it to be the majority of time.
