rob··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you

rob··on XCancel service is suspended until further notice
IMO, if you hate Elon so much, you shouldn't be visiting his website.

You look very odd and silly if you still want to engage with it and just use a different UI layer (i.e., "XCancel", "Nitter".)

If they want you to have an account to read the post and you want to read the post, create an account, log in, and move on. If you don't want to do that, nobody is forcing you to view a public website. There's alternatives like "Bluesky" out there that might be good for you.

rob··on iPhone Duo
I highly doubt they're going to put out a product under their name that has such an obvious defect after six months. Something tells me they cracked this fully, and that's why this phone has been in development for over a year, so they can get actual long-term repeated use of it to see just how much this "crease" will or will not show.

It's Apple, not a budget Samsung. They 100% would not put out a product that starts having obvious lines down the center of it after using it for a couple months. You'll see when the 6-month reviews come in.

rob··on Elevated Errors for Multiple Models
Officially signing up for the $200 Codex plan now. I do like CC, but these errors are happening every week now, and if they (Anthropic) gave regular resets that's one thing, but somehow I'm already at 62% weekly usage after the random reset this Tuesday using Fable 5.1 medium. Just not worth it any longer compared to Codex IMO. I already set up my skills and everything to be generic and not CC specific, so it shouldn't be too hard to transition over. I'll run both for a month and decide.
rob··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
https://simonwillison.net/2005/Jul/17/django/

> I haven’t been involved with Django since leaving the Journal-World back in September, but now that the framework is open-sourced I look forward to contributing to its further development—both in terms of documentation and actual code.

rob··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
You don't like seeing the top post of every model thread being a link to some SVG pelican that he generated?
rob··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
Didn't he leave the project before it even had an official release?
rob··on AI-written code is still your code
Absolutely! I haven't had this much fun since I was coding MySpace layout glitter graphic websites in 2006 with PHP, MySQL, and CodeIgniter.

I'm getting older, I have lots of ideas, and now I have tools that can help bring them together faster instead of spending two weeks obsessing about how I want to set up Ubuntu and have nothing to show for it. Helps replace the all-nighters that I used to be able to do.

I still think having decades of experience in everything from domains, DNS, FreeBSD/Linux servers, databases, all sorts of programming languages, and full stack dev helps get more out of these tools compared to somebody that has no idea what they're doing. Especially around the deployment side right now. People keep saying that's changing though.

rob··on CEO fired developers to make room for AI. Developers create open source AI CEO
FWIW, I thought it was human written. Pangram also said that it's 100% human written.

More likely, they're all wrong on this accusation. A bit concerning to see how many of them are throwing out a false positive like this. Makes me wonder how many of them are falling for actual AI traps in the real world. :)

rob··on OpenAI restores 5-hour Codex and Work limits for ChatGPT Plus users
Why not? I owe my life to ads. Thank you Google AdSense and Yahoo! Ads for the hundreds of thousands of dollars you paid for 16 year old Rob to slap them on his MySpace layout website in 2006 so Timmy could put a glitter graphic of Stone Cold Steve Austin on his banner.

rob··on Anthropic's best AI model struggles to attract users as cheaper tools thrive
As Anthropic does this, OpenAI Is giving everybody resets like every other day now on Twitter.

I'm strongly considering biting the bullet and just ditching my $200/month Claude Code plan for the Codex one instead, especially because I keep running into my weekly limits (even sticking to Opus.)

I just read through a couple of your posts that weren't dead or buried, and it seems like you're pretty anti-AI. You should really start to have an open mind towards it. It's going to be the future (if it isn't already), and as you continue to get older, you're going to really wish you spent your time right now learning and embracing the technology instead of being so against it. A lot of the skills and things that you're holding on to right now might not be relevant by then, but you'll be at a disadvantage from not keeping up with the industry and need to play catch-up.
rob··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?

rob··on GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities
T3 Code has been amazing. Completely free. Really impressed with the desktop app and the mobile app experience and the way it works seamlessly has me actually accomplishing tons of stuff while I'm out on mobile that I would otherwise have to wait to come home for. First time in a while I'm actually excited to use a desktop UI instead of the terminal. Blows away the official Claude Code mobile app. I can switch between my Claude and Codex monthly subscriptions in it as well. There's a TestFlight beta SwiftUI mobile version that's so much nicer than the one in the App Store. I'm running the nightly version of the desktop app.

And this is coming from someone that's not particularly a big fan of Theo. T3 Code should get more recognition; people aren't just aware of it yet.

rob··on Apple introduces leasing program for iPhones and other devices
Oh no, I get to pay $11/month (after trading in my 15 Pro Max) with 0% interest for a new iPhone 17 and return it for another new one in a couple of years, or buy it outright at the end (and own it.) I'm such a sucker.
rob··on What I love about Django
I need to go look up the CEO of my refrigerator, dishwasher, couch, car, cell phone, TV, shirt and jeans, and oat milk to see if they said anything I disagree with on social media so I can boycott them.

rob··on Show HN: Bento - An entire PowerPoint in one HTML file (edit+view+data+collab)
Because they didn't write all the code by hand? Seems like an odd measurement for determining if a project is ambitious or impressive. Clearly this one is based on the replies here.
rob··on Show HN: Bento - An entire PowerPoint in one HTML file (edit+view+data+collab)
It's also the name of a CMS from PBS that's been used for years:

rob··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
That's very true.
rob··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
Good idea; I'll make sure we have all random ?date=1970-01-01, ?date=1970-01-02, all the way to ?date=2026-07-22 URLs cached, even the ones that are 404s but the crawlers still try anyways. Thank you!
rob··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
Agreed; we have a Linode VPS for some small WordPress websites and it was grinding to a halt after an AI crawler started iterating through every possible date in "The Events Calendar"’s URL structure, sequentially scraping calendar pages all the way back to like 1970. I'm sure that's partially my fault for not putting it behind Cloudflare or anything though.
rob··on Late.sh – a command-line Clubhouse for computer people
You don't have to change it just because one person complained. I personally like the "copy and paste curl command" to install something and I'm sure many others do as well. It's very convenient, and I can inspect the file myself if I'm that paranoid about it.
rob··on Advertise in ChatGPT
Being an early adopter to something like this as an advertiser can probably make you a lot of money.

Reminds me back in 2006 when we were running MySpace layout websites and making almost $100,000 a month from Google and Yahoo ads as teenagers.

rob··on What's the deal with all the random weekly quota resets for agents lately?
I have a subscription. If I don't have anything to do at the moment I don't use it. I don't think I need to set a timer every five hours and come up with tasks to do just to use my subscription. Seems like odd behavior?

I also have a Netflix subscription. I watch a couple of things on it and stop. I don't think to myself I need to maximize my subscription so let me watch movies all the time and wake up at 2 AM to make sure the next movie starts.

rob··on Towards a harness that can do anything
What's with this "harness" word people have been trying to adopt lately? Are we all going rock climbing?
