rmanolis··on Why OCaml?
Does it have concurrency or/and asynchronous programming?
rmanolis··on The Ciao System
Hi!! I like it and I am eager to learn it! However, one thing that I dislike most in a programming language is the slow compilation. How long it takes to compile more than 10.000 lines of code?

I find prolog very intriguing and for sure I will check it out tomorrow!

rmanolis··on My negative views on Rust
Rust does not bind well with C for this reason it can not become a system level programming https://way-cooler.org/blog/2019/04/29/rewriting-way-cooler-... However, there is another programming language that does not need bindings. It is called Zig and here it explains how it solves the same problem https://youtube.com/watch?v=mwrA5IRGpfU&feature=share
rmanolis··on Zig 0.9.0
I love Zig. But unfortunately there are no use cases for web developers yet that Go and JavaScript does not do already … unless the webassembly replace JS for more cool and futuristic UI.
rmanolis··on Kropotkin's 'The Conquest of Bread'
The problem with capitalism is that is so good to produce what you really desire that it causes addictions. These addictions change your character from a good kid to a bad boss, bad banker or a corrupt government official, just to keep your addictions to continue. The only solution to the problem is a state cryptocurrency that tax all transactions the same and let the people vote where the taxes will go. This way, we destroy bad bankers and corrupt officials and we will be left dealing with bad bosses when they will come to us to request investments
rmanolis··on Upcoming Features in Go 1.18
Now with generics, it will eat the pie from Java market.
rmanolis··on Capitalism is killing the planet – it’s time to stop buying into our destruction
“I bet with no freedom of press we will stop cutting trees for newspapers, books etc.” This is how The Guardian sounds.
rmanolis··on EU Chatcontrol 2.0 [video]
All the pedophiles will work for Facebook and google just to be able to watch private pictures of minor. Seriously EU do you ever think before voting?
rmanolis··on U.S. house prices are rising exponentially faster than income
The prices rise because the 1% gets cheap loans from bankers and bankers get cheap loans from central bank that prints money which devalues our wages. In summary, the 1% decrease our wages , they decrease their debt and they increase the prices in the housing market. Value your dollar by stopping printing and the 1% will start selling to pay their debt.
rmanolis··on Free markets are creating a major free speech problem
That is good, without free market we could not see their capital influence.
rmanolis··on SSC Engine: Golang Front End Components
Is it going to be like Lift Web Framework?
rmanolis··on Internet outages in Cuba following widespread anti-government protests
Why should USA trade only raw materials, when it does not need any?
rmanolis··on Internet outages in Cuba following widespread anti-government protests
Why do they need the communist party? Democracies can do far better jobs for example Norway, Sweden, Germany, Singapore etc. And if the embargo is the only problem, why then the Communist Party does not step down? It is not like they wanted to import capitalist goods like Coca Cola, iPhones, Nike etc. Communist party likes the embargo.
rmanolis··on Capitalism – Not to be attacked by JavaScript community conferences
Capitalism will always win, no matter what they say in the conferences, because the socialist software developers do not know how to create a social network to organize production and redistribute the wealth.
rmanolis··on Re: Moving from PHP to Go and Back Again
I use Golang for everything. For example I use GopherJs with polymer for the front-end and gin for the back-end.
rmanolis··on Time to release the internet from the free market – and make it a basic right
We don't have free market, when regulations exists.
rmanolis··on Ask HN: Will capitalism survive the robot revolution?
Technology free the markets. Now not even the state will not be able to stop black market thanks to the technology. Also technology gives more types of jobs. Before we were only hunters and gatherers , however now with technology we have more types of jobs. So even if robots do all the manual jobs then all the people will work on arts and science. My point is that capitalism will never die because we will never stop wanting unique and expensive things. However by the time the robots do all the manual work then we will be able go to space. That means more space for each person to have a farm with robots and exchange things with other people without the need of the state. Actually the state can be replaced today by a cryptocurrency that tax each transaction 5% and let the user to choose with his digital signature where to spent it. We are close enough to fire all the public workers thanks to the technology and replaced them with the private sectors and coupons for giving free services. Technology destroys any type of socialism.
rmanolis··on Ask HN: Node vs. .NET Core
I would recommend Golang. It is faster than Node.js and lighter on the memory footprint than C#. Easy to learn, with types and good documentation. And it has the libraries for a medium size project. Actually on my projects I use only 3 languages. Golang, Python(Django) for server side stuff and Javascript for front-end.
rmanolis··on Ask HN: What to do when a Chinese startup clones your website?
Do you know what would be nice ? A way to encrypt the data before viewing to the user and the js will decrypt the data by calling a websocket api to give the password. This way for each specific websocket session you encrypt and decrypt the data differently. Also you can hide recognizable information in the data so when copied you will search the history to find who did it.
rmanolis··on Angular 2 versus React
I prefer angular over react. 1) It is opinionated (wasting time for decisions is bad) 2) It is simpler to organize the code (it is MVC) 3) (click)="onSelect()" is simpler. You dont have to create an object with "bind" function like in react. 4) I dont want web designers mess with my code. So putting html on JS is bad decision.
rmanolis··on Programmer Passion Considered Harmful
First of all, I disagree. Being passionate is not bad, It becomes bad when you dont consider improving other parts of yourself. For example, there was a time where I was working a lot and then when I looked myself in the mirror, I felt horrible because I was fat and ashamed of myself. That alone burned me out. However, studying about diet and fitness. I fixed this problem with Intermittent Fasting, bodyweight workout (4 days a week) and vegeterianism. Now I dont feel bad, and I work straight for months without feeling burned out.
