rikima_··on Our position on open-weights models
What people don't know is that China's "war" against Vietnam in 1979 was actually a pledge of allegiance to the United States, a way of demonstrating its stance.

This event was followed by the longest honeymoon period in Sino-US relations, which eventually lead to China's rise.

rikima_··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?

rikima_··on Qwen 3.8
While willingly handing your data to american labs. Surely sounds so based.
rikima_··on Qwen 3.8

rikima_··on The AirPods Effect
good that every AH has selfscankassa and i don’t need to take out anything
rikima_··on CT scans of BYD car parts
understandable that people might have fears like this since this happens a lot in the west in my own experience, but in china you can always argue with them and the customer service is usually way better, or you can drop the nuke by reporting to the authorities.
rikima_··on Anthropic acquires Stainless
surprised I had to scroll this far to find someone actually pointing this out. This kind of acquisitions are alarming, to say the least.
rikima_··on Adoption of EVs tied to real-world reductions in air pollution: study
And the air conditions in Chengdu and Chongqing are getting worse with the recent smog making the headlines, despite also one of the highest EV adoption rates in western China. Being able to mandate factory shutdown surely helps for Beijing, but is unfortunately not the case in other chinese cities
rikima_··on The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe
Going to stay on Sonoma for another year
rikima_··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Funny how no one listens to real Venezuelans speaking. As a chinese I understand you fully. Everyone hates dictators, but sometimes the alternative isn’t just necessarily better as people might hope. Transition is gonna be long and painful.
rikima_··on Delete FROM users WHERE location = 'Iran';
I guess that's why Anthropic's CEO is universally hated in some places.
rikima_··on This website is for humans
If the researchers have enough time to read every paper in the field, why would there be surveys/reviews at all? Same logic.
rikima_··on Tell HN: China Is Entering Lockdown
> It's such an absurd tradeoff for the Omicron variant, which is less deadly than the flu[1]

Apparently the data is only applicable for England, which has already achieved herd immunity
