So whats the alternative? Letting it codegen a file and the piping that? What a worse workflow
rhodysurf··on Use the Claude Agent SDK with Your Claude Plan
On the plus side it is fun to use agents with my subscription, on the downside i really really like using Claude Code via ACP is Zed and now this is nerfed.

These seem like not the same thing and it seems silly to bill them the same way but differently than using the CLI or official app.

rhodysurf··on Tell HN: Anthropic no longer allowing Claude Code subscriptions to use OpenClaw
This is what I did, downgraded to pro and pay for opencode zen for the open models. I like the combo of the two
rhodysurf··on Claude Code gets native LSP support
Claude models in opencode use the Claude code system prompt, are you comparing Claude code to opencode with non anthropic models?
rhodysurf··on Codex Is Live in Zed
Your downvoted but this is the worst part of using zed today and i really hope they can come up with a solution
rhodysurf··on OpenAI’s Windsurf deal is off, and Windsurf’s CEO is going to Google
It already does this btw, when you use Cc from the vscode terminal and select things it adds it to cc context automatically
rhodysurf··on OpenAI’s Windsurf deal is off, and Windsurf’s CEO is going to Google
You’re missing the point tho. The point of the cli agent is that it’s a building block to put this thing everywhere. Look at CCs GitHub plugin, it’s great

I neeeed this google login method in sst's opencode now haha
rhodysurf··on My first attempt at iOS app development
I doubt it. I maintain both RN apps and other ones with both iOS and android versions and if you are not a company and your app does anything more than a todo list your iteration velocity grinds to an absolute halt. RN is just faster and that matters
rhodysurf··on Zed: High-performance AI Code Editor
Yes.. but all that really matters in a zero sum game is that Vscode and cursor have good Python integration and zeds is not good. I live zed otherwise but I have to do Python all day so I don’t use it
rhodysurf··on Amazon Aurora DSQL
its supposedly serverless like dyanamo
rhodysurf··on SST: Container Support
I get it! Keep it up
rhodysurf··on SST: Container Support
You can use any pulumi provider so you can kinda use it with google cloud but it wont be as nice as the AWS and cloudflare support they have.

They dont pay any attention at all to GCP, which i get but its a shame because Cloud Run is the best container platform there is and def a better experience in many ways (cost, dx, etc) than running a freaking ECS cluster

rhodysurf··on Replicating D3 Charts with Swift Charts
No
rhodysurf··on Show HN: A modern Jupyter client for macOS
Yeah vscode also finds the virtualenv from the current project automatically whihc is probably the biggest thing for me that stops me for using this, alongside copilot support
rhodysurf··on PostgreSQL comes to Firebase
I need to know pricing for this because cloudsql is not cheap
rhodysurf··on Zed Decoded: Async Rust
the notebooks are definitely a bigger deal than the auto venv stuff
rhodysurf··on Zed Decoded: Async Rust
Yeah it really needs notebooks and automatic venv discovery for me to use it for python. Having to define the venv in each projects config is just not needed in other pythons ides
rhodysurf··on Go, Python, Rust, and production AI applications
I am the same, and for me the biggest reason to use rust for this stuff is simply how if i leave projects, I know that the type system is so strict that I know in a few months things should still work even as I just jump in and change stuff. With python projects they just feel like they rot.

Also as copilot generates code for me, if it compiles in rust I know it will usually work well. With python the iteration loop is so much less trustworthy

rhodysurf··on Svelte Native
NativeScript is not react-native
rhodysurf··on An app can be a home-cooked meal (2020)
Technically you dont need it to develop and app for yourself. Practically the cert expires every 7 days without a dev license so its very annoying without one, vs being able to distribute to people you care about on test flight
rhodysurf··on Rocket – Simple, Fast, Type-Safe Web Framework for Rust
Yeah I run my rust apps with in google cloud run so the containers are always restarting anyways so I dont care
rhodysurf··on In 1980s Los Angeles, a bank was robbed every hour
It’s not usually a problem because they will happily give a cashiers check
rhodysurf··on Removing garbage collection from the Rust language (2013)
I would consider error handling in rust my favorite of all the lanuages i use by a long margin, im not sure how it would be improved. Python I have to try catch, JS i have to try catch, C++ i have to try catch, Go I need more boilerplate than rust. Swift is close to rust, but without the Map Error logic its less ergonomic.
rhodysurf··on Bun 1.0 announcement [video]
I’ve used zig for like a week total in my life and during that time I had a PR accepted to the main repo. It’s very much friendly to contributors.

rhodysurf··on Wildfire Smoke in Northeastern US Visible on GOES East Images
Def not as bad here, AQI was only maxed at like 100 today
rhodysurf··on The Prime Video microservices to monolith story
Because it doesn’t actually cost less? You have to have a LOT of invocations to match the cost of the entry level 6 dollar digital ocean box. And with that you have to manage that box vs serverless you don’t have to spend engineering time (which costs an order of magnitude more) on maintenance, a big deal for small shops without dedicated/capable ops teams.
rhodysurf··on Perseus – NextJS alternative in Rust
Yeah… I have two containers running on google cloud run right now, the nextjs container cold starts an average of 1.5 seconds. The actix web rust container cold starts in 150 ms. The difference is staggering, I can’t even tell when the rust container cold starts
