Sounds like a different civil arrangement than I am used to. Is there a link to one of the plants you can send me so I can see the layout? I mostly work on high head run of river plants, but some are an upper and lower arrangement where the trail race of one plant is the head pond of the next
rhodozelia··on Tune Your PID Controller
I’ve done level control for about 30 hydro electric power plants but with relatively small headponds or reservoirs, between 20m^6 to 50,000 m^2. You can calculate the gains to achieve critical damping, it was one of the first examples in my university controls textbook.

Getting filtering and update rate right is also important.

Sure, but driving in mud will take the same amount of energy for both the gas and electric car. It’s not like the ev has an inherent disadvantage in low speed off roading.

Since rock crawling is all about low end torque with guys installing two transfer cases so they can go 4 lo-lo and redline at 3 km/h I would have thought the low end torque of electric motor would be better than gas.

Yeah it was more than ‘a’ wiring harness. I think it was going in to limp mode or something

My friends Tacoma backseat didn’t seem much different from my f150 with suicide doors, so thank you for the confirmation i’m Good to go

A friend had to have “the wiring harness” on his 2019 f350 replaced, it was 10k took 5 weeks and would have been at his cost if he didn’t have the extended warranty

Loggers use pickups to haul fuel to their heavy equipment, and to commute on sometimes quite rough logging roads and muddy log sort yards

I don’t think not needing a portable generator on small construction sites is going to be a big driver of sales.

Sales will be driven by the same factors as Tesla’s, no c02 emissions, don’t have to buy gas. Everything else is bonus

I don’t often see vehicles advertised with snow plows? Aren’t they all aftermarket ?
rhodozelia··on 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning
Why would low speed high torque operation be bad for range? Are the electric motors less efficient at lower speeds? Hill climbing and off roading probably has bad gas mileage too?
rhodozelia··on 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning
Tesla has achieved their goal of making EVs mainstream and reducing c02 emmissions

My selection of vehicles agrees with you but friends who are new parents were shocked to see that child seats don’t fit in the back of Tacoma or I presume f150 supercab

Hah I was going to guess either Fernie, castle, or something up northern BC like at Smithers

I’ve always wanted to stop in at castle on my way to or from fernie.

Sounds like you are living your best life congrats!

You think you are better at installing toilets than the average professional plumber?

What general area is this hill? Sounds like there must be some sweet lines!
rhodozelia··on Why I Quit DIY (2014)
Because you would hire a professional plumber with insurance and if it leaks you use your home insurance to cover and damage and then they go after the plumbers insurance to recoup their cost so your premiums don’t go up.

In embedded and machine control robustness is in simplicity. It is ok to repeat your self.

PLCs until recently only had global variables and a great deal has been accomplished with them.

A lot of machine controls and embedded work is more waterfally and less agile. Figure out what it has to do, make it do that, then it is done and you hand the machine or plant over to the customer and you can’t change it.

Are there really hundreds of different jobs or careers that you want? I have only ever tailored my cv and cover letter for the exact position that I was applying for so that they knew I knew everything about the company and what they were doing and why they needed me to help them solve their problems. When they read my Cv they are like thank god our search is over, this guy can do it. Because it you are going to get the job you can do it and you will do it! It might take some training and some extra hours to get up to speed if your experience isn’t an exact match but you can say that, I’m going the extra mile to make this relationship a success, to make this deal work so that we both get what we want. People want to work with people that are happy to be there. If there are hundreds of different jobs you could have to me that says you don’t really care about any of them. Find the one job you desperately want and go after that.

I’ve done private and Public hydro and the private projects were still stressful with liquidated damages hanging over my head if i caused a delay in the project and all of the environmental considerations which dramatically complicated the machinery and the controls.
rhodozelia··on US passes emergency waiver over fuel pipeline cyber-attack
At one extreme a Nuclear weapons accident can kill millions of people and destroy the environment of a large area for a long time.

And then a sliding scale of risk and cost of getting hacked vs savings and increases in efficiency resulting from remote access.

Are you for or against Tesla having remote access to all of the Tesla vehicles? Are their OTA updates innovative or reckless?
