rgun··on Cloud in a Bottle: making self-hosting accessible to everyone
Great project! I have had conversations along these lines with my colleagues for quite some time now. Will definitely try.

The docs mention cloudinabottle.toml but the app repos all have openhost.toml. Did you folks change the name of the platform?

Also, can you point to how the unified auth works? Couldn't find anything in the manifest spec.

I think you have to fill in "additional details" field for it to work. I did it and it worked alright
rgun··on Dinosaur Asteroid hit the place capable of triggering mass extinction (2017)
> because in the end it wasn’t the size of the asteroid, the scale of blast, or even its global reach that made dinosaurs extinct – it was where the impact happened

> An impact in the nearby Atlantic or Pacific oceans would have meant much less vaporised rock – including the deadly gypsum. The cloud would have been less dense and sunlight could still have reached the planet’s surface

Makes you wonder what life on earth would be like if the impact happened a few minutes earlier or later.

I have probably started using konsole because it was the default, but have since liked it a lot. I use tmux whenever I want to split windows, synchronize keystrokes and things like that but for all else, konsole works perfectly well.

I have set it up in a way that I don't see any clutter. You can hide whatever you don't want to see on the UI. All I see is the terminal and the tabs.

The killer feature is the 'monitor for silence' and 'monitor for activity'. Comes quite handy for long running background tasks that you want to monitor.

I am a happy konsole user. I have bookmarked all the tabs relevant to my project, in a folder. As soon as I start konsole, I open the folder in tabs.

Then as a ritual (and a bit of OCD), I quickly cycle through all the tabs with Shift-Right Arrow once.

rgun··on Ask HN: What's the "best" book you've ever read?
I was blown away by Pillars of the Earth.

I had never read a historical fiction before it. It is so well crafted, showing different characters and their perspectives, all in the backdrop of medieval England.

The other day one of my colleagues was trying to sell me the Apple ecosystem by giving a specific example. He has airpod connected to his mac. As soon as he gets a call, they switch to his iPhone. He was quite surprised when I told him that the same thing happens with my Asus laptop running Kubuntu, Motorola phone and Oneplus ear buds.
