rfool··on What if everything we know about recycling is wrong?
People argueing about regional differences in what is and isn't recyclable in different jurisdictions are kinda funny at some point. Elusive/Evasive actually.

Because they like to argue based on contemporary state of progress and process and well, about a state that incorporates anything from science to politics to whatever…

For example, where I live, we separate our waste, while its clear most of it is going to be burned in a cement factory anyway. Not perfect, but not an actual argument for or against recycling, right?

rfool··on My Friend Aaron
Good point! I also got that impression and that made this story feel shady and finally even boring, resulting in an empty aftershade, mentally.

However, taste modulates wildly.

rfool··on My Friend Aaron
Nice. Story and your writing style tell more about you as about Aaron.

IMHO, with the second paragraph, Aaron starts to fade into background. While you increasingly describe your character in-depth, but also more and more often seem to advert an urge to apologize for ... something. I wonder what that is!?

You now good old google, still, right?

Anyway: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subitizing

Nice! I think a big part of the success-to-fail-ratio is Subitizing.

Interestingly, whenever I failed, the correct answer felt totally obvious - and I wonder how this observation relates to frame semantics theory?

And not being native english speaker (as you, reading my comment, may have noticed) makes this harder, but still an exciting game.

rfool··on Async and Finaliser Deadlocks
But who am I anyway? Everyone is free to do what they want.

Everyone is free to overcompensate, remunerate, juxtapose, aggravate, frustrate, vandalize, …

rfool··on Async and Finaliser Deadlocks
Before drawing any „higher order conclusion“ …

Did anyone assure that this code is using a recursive mutex???

Because, well, lol, a second lock on a non-recursive mutex would look like what is reported here.

KISS and gn8

This reads as like the Author is awaiting a falsification of its statement(s): but the thing is: it was neither accidently created, nor is it the fastest CSV parser, for sure.

But I am too lazy, to proof or falsify that.

We are in post-factual age anway, right?

rfool··on Too Many Open Files
This is bad advice. The worst. Just bump up limits? Really?

Instead, find out why this happens, first.

rfool··on UK's hardware talent is being wasted
Btw: remaining examples are just as stupid as the first one.

Ideas are worth nothing. Even if they shine

rfool··on UK's hardware talent is being wasted
Oh no! What you describe is generally known as a 100% german trait.

You cannot steal it from us and relabel as british! No, Sir!

BTW: your examples stink.

From first to last one:

> Sarah: Built a fusion reactor at 16. Now? Debugging fintech payment systems.

Nice, but that fusion reactor? Where is it? Did she really accomplish something?

rfool··on Germany extends lifetime of all 3 remaining nuclear plants
IMHO totally unnecessary. Nuclear energy is superfluous, at least in Germany.
