retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Which Java Web Framework will stand out above others in 2012.
I was hoping to see more responses :). Looks like hacker community already has ditched Java Web frameworks.

I personally like how Play has evolved, but adoption is severely thin. They just got typesafe backing but Spring with the muscle behind it might be able to shove the rest away.

retrofit_brain··on Play 2.0, A web framework for a new era
I am exploring play for my next project, and all i can say is i am thoroughly impressed. With typesafe providing resources, i am hoping this seriously dents J2EE stacks.
retrofit_brain··on Hands On: India’s $35 Aakash Android tablet lands in America
2 years back i spent 2K on a group of 4, movies and dinner. It is getting expensive. Growing up, i never spent more than 100 rupees on dinner for one.
retrofit_brain··on "Hello World" in Dart, compiled to JavaScript
This comparison is asinine at best. The runtime is bound to be bigger. And remember DART eventually will have the runtime included in Chrome and hopefully other browsers. The way things are going in the browser world, all people might actually care about is Chrome and if there is a wonderful IDE support which comes with strongly typed languages, there is a real shot at this becoming a standard.

Wow what a relief to see they are dogfooding. This is built on GWT and the performance is kick ass.
retrofit_brain··on A few adjustments to App Engine’s upcoming pricing changes
We are evaluating Cloud foundry (Java GWT App) and so far changes seem doable to port. The reason cloud foundry is viable is that there is no lock in and if one provider flips another one is just round the corner.
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Ok done with our website. But Look and feel is developerified.
Thanks, yes looks like Typography is the most critical thing. Any pointers for typography?
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Ok done with our website. But Look and feel is developerified.
Thanks will look and will definitely post the URL once we iron out the last few nicks.
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Ok done with our website. But Look and feel is developerified.
i should have mentioned. Our UI is GWT and not sure if custom template would work.
retrofit_brain··on Viral Marketing doesn't need nifty skills
This guy is so much in love with himself :)

wow enjoy the site it is back now as bandwidth limits wane.
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN:Why Github and not Bitbucket
agreed that there are more costlier things to worry, but spending the money should be justified. Just the buzz is not a good enough reason, there has to be better reasons. I have personally not experienced downtimes which might justify a better price for one.
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Strategy for password reset email vs URL to reset pwd
This makes more sense, random users being able to request RESETS. I agree sending a time bound link to registered email is better.

What type of token generation mechanism would you use to send with the link to identify a user or to make sure that the link is being requested by the right user.

retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Strategy for password reset email vs URL to reset pwd
Hmm...interesting. Click wise it probably is less clicks and you are also forcing the user to change his password. Unless you add logic to ask the user to change his password with one time token, it probably makes more sense to send a link to reset pwd.
retrofit_brain··on Ask HN: Strategy for password reset email vs URL to reset pwd
We do use BCrypt. Trying to figure out if implementing an extra layer of sending an email with a link to reset password has advantages over just sending a one time changed password.
retrofit_brain··on Google ChromeBook Review: ChromeBomb?
Google Chromebook will have updates but they will be of chrome browser types where they happen behind the scenes and downloads are tiny. You restart your browser and you are on a new version. No one even cares what version of chrome browser you are running now, because they have made versions obsolete. That being said it is a little curious why they had to do it on first boot for 7 minutes. But everyone who is used to microsoft PC's please 7 minutes is like a blink of an eye we have dealt with microsoft's day long updates for 2 decades now.
