retr0h··on I Got Catfished by a Candidate
Wow, haven't been on efnet in forever. Ever know a guy named chris at unix.org, was in #unix.
retr0h··on Major HipChat outage
I would be interested in a low level comparison of both HipChat/Slack's architecture and technology stack.
retr0h··on Show HN: GoboLinux 016 featuring Runner, a filesystem virtualization tool
It's still annoying :)
retr0h··on Show HN: GoboLinux 016 featuring Runner, a filesystem virtualization tool
This looks pretty interesting. Bonus points for a tiling window manager. Am a bit disappointed in capitalization of directory names tho :(
retr0h··on Ansistrano – Ansible role to deploy apps in a Capistrano style
I'm not much of a "crapistrano" fan. I do admit it filled a necessary void at the time... With that said, the role itself is well written Ansible.

Tests[1][2] could be improved by molecule[3].

retr0h··on Why do we use the Linux kernel's TCP stack?
It was also written in tcl
retr0h··on Show HN: BitKeeper – Enterprise-ready version control, now open-source
SUN must like the scat names :) I used to use scat tool for debugging core files.
retr0h··on Winning Hyperloop design revealed by MIT engineers
Something like the Alameda Weehawken Burrito tunnel.

retr0h··on Apache Traffic Server
Y!'s global CDN is based on this as well.
retr0h··on HP Winds Down Cloud Computing Project
You do realize IBM has hired the top OpenStack talent that was previously at HP building this public cloud.
retr0h··on Hitch – A Scalable TLS Proxy by Varnish
Wonder why LibreSSL wasn't used... :/
retr0h··on Convert Servers to Docker Containers
The tool is quite old, and haven't seen updates in some time.

retr0h··on Introducing FIDO: Automated Security Incident Response
This looks exciting.

retr0h··on Your big data toolchain is a big security risk
I tend to agree. None of these criticisms are from real-world experience. I'm not convinced the author can grow a neck beard yet :P
retr0h··on Mg: an Emacs-like editor in 160 kb
shouldn't your config management system be doing this ;P
retr0h··on NSQ – A realtime distributed messaging platform
Also, Kafka guarantees message order, where NSQ does not. This can be dealt with in the client, but something to note.
retr0h··on NSQ – A realtime distributed messaging platform
Yeah, I love it. There are some good modules out there for installing it too.

retr0h··on NixOS and Stateless Deployment
I like the architecture of Nix, and believe there are many benefits to it's packaging model. However, I am not a huge fan of the syntax[1], and rather use a template engine I am quite familiar with (like jinja).

I'll continue to follow and learn more about Nix, but anxiously awaiting my epiphany.

retr0h··on Streem – a new programming language from Matz
Meaning I would rather not have opening or closing.
retr0h··on Streem – a new programming language from Matz
Not a fan of the closing braces.
retr0h··on Protect yourself from the hidden dangers of `curl – sh`
I don't see much reason for ever needing to do this. Should build packages to install software, and use config management for anything needed outside the package.
retr0h··on Dockersh – a shell that puts users into individual docker containers
I don't get it :/

yellowpages.com now yp was a large rails shop, and subsiquently moved to node.
retr0h··on Project VimR – Refined Vim experience for Mac
Still not convinced. I'll take tmux and a non-gui vim any day of the week.
retr0h··on Why Don’t We Have a General-Purpose Tree Editor?
Yeah, +1 for Graphviz. Has worked well for me in the past.
retr0h··on Sandstorm Personal Cloud Platform
From the readme:

At present, Sandstorm's sandboxing is incomplete. Malicious code probably can escape. Malicious code definitely can DoS your server by consuming all available resources.

retr0h··on Fucking Shell Scripts
