I see people post about it, I do not understand it

reroute1··on Report: Young adults more likely to live with parents than spouses
If you work remotely it might be
reroute1··on Protester shot in chest by live police round during Hong Kong protests
This is assuming that the military and all constituents would follow martial law, which I think is not at all a certainty.
reroute1··on Des Moines Register grapples with how to handle reporter’s past tweets
Of course not, but that's also the case in real life and that doesn't mean the permanence of the internet is a problem that needs fixing. Like the other comment mentioned, things from the past should be taken with a grain of salt online or otherwise.
reroute1··on Microplastics found in 93% of bottled water tested in global study
This was the story I had heard years ago, that they are left in the heat/sun and the plastic of the bottles can melt into the water.
reroute1··on Tests show bootleg marijuana vapes tainted with hydrogen cyanide
Ease of use. The idea of the cartridge is that you use it once and throw it away. A full vaporizer requires cleaning + can be very expensive. At the worst a new vape pen is $20-$40. It also fits in your pocket easily and looks like an e-cig / regular vape, many full THC vaporizers do not meet these criteria.

I actually have an expensive portable vaporizer, but much preferred using vape pens + carts.

reroute1··on Des Moines Register grapples with how to handle reporter’s past tweets
It's the worst decision for a few people who made disparaging comments on social media and then are put in the spotlight. The Internets permanent memory is one of it's greatest strengths IMO not a "fundamental problem". These stories blow over and people get on with real life, but the knowledge base and access to information remains.
reroute1··on New Mac Pro Tech Specs
You can only focus on so many products... I don't see why it's confusing when people are upset by what they choose to focus on
reroute1··on Open offices are a dead end
Cubicles, working remote, conference rooms. You ask for alternatives but automatically rule out the largest alternative (cubicles)? Feels like your expectations are the odd ones
reroute1··on Open offices are a dead end
Why did it become padding junk? Why can't it be valuable experience to put on your CV? He never mentioned anything about flash in the pan tech or buzzwords. Despite having a great job it's still totally relevant to build your resume. What if you get let go, the company undergoes changes, or you become unhappy?
reroute1··on Match.com Used Fake Ads to Swindle Users, F.T.C. Says
But you don't even have to answer those
reroute1··on Employer health plans are getting pricier and skimpier
> The US should just choose a country and copy it.

Just because X policy works elsewhere doesn't mean it would have the same effect in another country.

reroute1··on Google Employees Explain How They Were Retaliated Against for Reporting Abuse
Right, there isn't enough evidence provided to actually verify or judge any of these. In itself they are pretty useless anonymous claims.
reroute1··on India bans e-cigarettes, citing youth health concerns
This is all subjective. I personally don't mind at all, but cigarette smoke irritates the hell out of me
reroute1··on India bans e-cigarettes, citing youth health concerns
What about the people that will go back to smoking cigarettes, a clearly worse alternative? E-cigs are preventing all those people from using traditional tobacco products, not causing higher use...
reroute1··on Too Many Video Streaming Choices May Drive Users Back To Piracy
OK. I don't know if everyone would agree with your somewhat reductive view on Disney, how is it fair to compare an entire company and enterprise to a single man. This feels like you are looking at two wildly different things and connecting them with very thin lines.
reroute1··on Too Many Video Streaming Choices May Drive Users Back To Piracy
But to be fair R. Kelly is being accused of pretty awful crimes which I don't see an equivalent from Disney...
reroute1··on Alabama tracking students' locations to penalize them for leaving games early
Of course that is bizarre.

It is also bizarre to make a claim about "better run" countries where people just walk home instead of other transport methods

Edit: You seem to be having a conversation with yourself and making points that no one is arguing with. Maybe try replying to what people say instead of forming a different argument and then attacking that.

reroute1··on Alex Honnold's next summit: the rest of his life
> None of that is what actually causes people to be angry.

How do you know this? Have you interviewed everyone ever on why they got angry? There are a variety of reasons and it's very highly unlikely that you are correct.

reroute1··on Anduril, a startup from Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, now valued at $1B
Yes you were given it, which means you were lucky in what you received. By all means try to do the same for your descendants I didn't say anything to the contrary, just that they would be lucky in the same way
reroute1··on Ban kids from loot box gambling in games
Lots of loot boxes and in game cosmetics can often be traded in the same way though?

For example in Dota 2 people can trade skins for heroes they don't play. Isn't that the same thing as trading a pokemon you don't want?

reroute1··on Ban kids from loot box gambling in games
The flashing lights are a nice bonus, but the comparison to trading cards is still valid imo. It's basically the same thing. Yes the technology has advanced, but the risks are the same.

Companies that sold trading cards, stickers, whatever did the same marketing and testing as video game companies.

reroute1··on Anduril, a startup from Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, now valued at $1B
Sure, but none of that has anything to do with you or your accomplishments which is where luck enters the equation as to your starting place.

For the record I think borders should be secure, but also allow pathways to citizenship.

reroute1··on Ask HN: Are you ok?
Good for you, that sounds like a pretty unreasonable ultimatum to give someone.
reroute1··on Ask HN: Are you ok?
Is it a mental health problem or just human nature?
reroute1··on Stop Infinite Scrolling
Will they consider an article titled "Stop using bright neon green in prominent design elements"? I think I figured that one out in 6th grade.
reroute1··on Joi Ito Resigns from M.I.T. Media Lab After Outcry over Jeffrey Epstein Ties
Yeah maybe it's your description that needs some work and not our interpretation
reroute1··on Using Spotify data to predict what songs will be hits
Isn't this basically what radio, mtv, and every music technology does in a way?
reroute1··on A man who destroyed his multimillion dollar company in 10 seconds (2018)
Still not necessarily victimizing anyone though
reroute1··on Just Enough Piracy Can Be a Good Thing
Exactly physical land exists, and the only "labor" required for it to be property is for people to agree on it being property. How does this constitute real labor or improvement?

Intellectual properties are generally more creative based endeavors and should be protected as such IMO

reroute1··on Just Enough Piracy Can Be a Good Thing
If you completely redefine "improvement" and "labor" then sure.
