remisharrock··on Show HN: Node.js video tutorials where you can edit and run the code
Also you could look at how we did it with codecast, it's open source on GitHub search for codecast France ioi With mouse relative position, highlights selections of code etc
remisharrock··on Show HN: Node.js video tutorials where you can edit and run the code
Actually I have a new version of codecast doing that ! (See my post a minutes back in that thread)
remisharrock··on Show HN: Node.js video tutorials where you can edit and run the code
We also created a while back codecast for my courses in c programming. I also have Linux running entirely in the browser. And the c programming language "running" fully in the browser. Everything in sync with your oral explanations.

The courses :

https://www.coursera.org/specializations/c-programming-linux

https://www.edx.org/certificates/professional-certificate/da...

I wrote a few papers to explain:

CODECAST: An Innovative Technology to Facilitate Teaching and Learning Computer Programming in a C Language Online Course

https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=view_citation&h...

WebLinux: a scalable in-browser and client-side Linux and IDE

https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=view_citation&h...

I also have a taskgrader to grade student's codes :

Teaching C Programming Interactively at Scale Using Taskgrader: an Open-source Autograder Tool

Am I the only one with exactly this episode that does not load ? All the others are ok ?
remisharrock··on Typehero: All you need to become a TypeScript menace
Is this the JavaScript vs Typescript troll hello!
remisharrock··on Kopia: Fast and secure open-source backup software
I have also used it for a year or so and restored some files individually without any problem. I use a remote ssh storage through tailscale, just very stable interestingly! Only small problem was that my server broke during an uptade because I created a systemd service to start it and the parameters changes to start it. Apart from that, very stable for now.
remisharrock··on PhotoPrism: AI-powered photos app for the decentralized web
Haha I saw a few hours ago immich on top of HN, wanted to tell everybody I'm using photoprism + syncthing for quite a long time now and I see that photoprism made it to the top , well, good !
remisharrock··on Exercism – learn programming languages for free
I was searching for exercices to learn c pointers, do you find any?
remisharrock··on Let's kill the universe
I just read "l'anomalie" from Hervé le Tellier, Reading that post made me think of that book, I recommend it.
remisharrock··on WebVM: Server-less x86 virtual machines in the browser
For educational uses, I have plenty of use cases for large scale teaching and learning, without backend servers and without installing anything complex on the client side.
remisharrock··on WebVM: Server-less x86 virtual machines in the browser
Will you open source your code one day and if no, why not?
remisharrock··on WebVM: Server-less x86 virtual machines in the browser
And jor1k (JavaScript openrisc processor emulator) : well, they emulate processors (x86, openrisc..) in JavaScript while WebVM execute (transpiled?) code in webassembly
remisharrock··on WebVM: Server-less x86 virtual machines in the browser
From what I read on their website, web containers cannot run Linux binaries or compile c code or run python scripts / bash etc. - for example?
remisharrock··on Open-source home cloud OS allows you to run Docker applications without coding
I installed the alternative https://yunohost.org/ and I'm very happy with it, but now I want to try this one!

remisharrock··on Ask HN: Would issue “bounties” make contributing to open source more appealing?
All your ideas are of value for our FLOSS MOOC! I'll make sure we integrate some of these ideas in it. If you're interested and want to contribute: https://gitlab.com/mooc-floss/mooc-floss/
remisharrock··on Original Dartmouth College BASIC manual (1964) [pdf]
Reminds me the first time I visited Dartmouth campus not so long ago and went to the Baker Library, I saw the real one ! I then met with Petra Bonfert Taylor working at the Thayer school of engineering and we produced this award winning C programming with Linux MOOC (on edx.org) Dartmouth is so inspiring !
remisharrock··on DOM recording for web application demos
Hello @yz-yu and thank you for this fabulous project rrweb ! We are developing educational tools out of it (programming tutorials with audio, for example)! Keep up the good work.
remisharrock··on DOM recording for web application demos
OMG you're the creator of https://rr-project.org/ ! That's the one I wanted to use first. Ho ! We have to talk :)
remisharrock··on DOM recording for web application demos
By the way, I find your pernosco debugger very interesting for pedagogical purposes. We are working on integrating Debug Adapter Protocol to preprocess the execution of a program and execute it line by line on the client side for teaching purposes but your solution looks much more elegant ! Any plan to make it compatible with Python and Java or other JVM languages ?
remisharrock··on DOM recording for web application demos
Two open source alternatives: https://github.com/oct16/TimeCat and https://github.com/rrweb-io/rrweb we are working - at Telecom Paris - on synchronizing audio recording as well for pedagogical reasons (for example making programming tutorials) here https://github.com/Telecom-Paris/generic-rrweb-recorder . You can also try our "ace editor" specific recorder to make c programming and python programming tutorials https://github.com/France-ioi/codecast look at the recordings we have created here https://www.edx.org/course/c-programming-getting-started it includes a client side c interpreter . If you know any other tool to make pedagogical tutorials please let me know!
