rektomatic··on Socialism's Positive Rating Tops 40% for First Time
Socialism means that the government owns the means of production.

Sweden is not socialist, it's capitalist. A large portion of the budget goes to welfare programs, just like the USA.

rektomatic··on GPT-5.6 Luna vs. GPT-6 Astra: Is a $1.20 Model Good Enough for Code Review?
False positives have a real cost, especially if AI is reading a review. Consider if you have GPT-6 Astra looking at a review and finding a bunch of false positives it burns tokens to figure out.

Remember when the term "AGI" meant something? Pepperidge farm remembers
rektomatic··on CEO fired developers to make room for AI. Developers create open source AI CEO
That repo is so thin, probably just took one prompt.
rektomatic··on Meta reaches $16.68B settlement over social media harms to children
There was an ad going around for a while on how Instagram was trying to be safer for teens with parent controls, etc.

If I were to guess, he's thinking he can get the good (if there is any good to be found) without the bad still using more controls/technology.

rektomatic··on Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance
Why would you read the microcode or assembly?
rektomatic··on Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance
Forcing friction the way this post describes won't work because the genie is out of the bottle.

A much easier way to force friction is to expect everyone to read the code they are producing. Yes read all of it and understand what it's doing.

A lofty bar sadly.

rektomatic··on AI boosted homework scores, then exam scores dropped: study
Good exams don't just test memorization
rektomatic··on Do Chatbot LLMs Talk Too Much?
Yes, yes they do

what exactly is this finish line? AGI?
rektomatic··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?
you live in all those places??
rektomatic··on Kimi K3: Open Frontier Intelligence
Maybe the whole windows/linux thing is an apt comparison? Linux is OS and arguably runs the internet yet windows is still a cash cow. The paid-for models are like windows, the OS models are like linux?
rektomatic··on A graph that should be front-page news
Isn't that the documentary that cited a study saying all snow would disappear forever from Earth by the year 2013?
rektomatic··on Jobs and Software Is Fucked
Propertly testing and reviewing code is a must with AI, it's actually more important. I don't know why the author feels like it's assumed that this goes out the window with AI
rektomatic··on The Flat Curve Society
Am I just a luddite, because this seems really far-fetched to me:

>In reality, behind the scenes, the curve is NOT flattening at all; the exponential growth will continue

every other technical leap hit walls where the exponential growth stopped

rektomatic··on A backdoor in a LinkedIn job offer
I really want to know what would've happened with an npm install, I guess something boring like crypto mining or identity theft?
rektomatic··on I stopped tracking my time. Now I can't focus
It's point is highlighting a common issue that is becoming widespread due to AI tool proliferation. I have the same exact issues. I used to love sinking into deep work mode but now that's gone.
rektomatic··on Domain expertise has always been the real moat
> The engineer’s advantage, the ability to translate a domain model into working code, is now cheap.

I say this as someone who uses AI a lot. Its still a far cry from cheap, especially with that pesky “working” word in there.

rektomatic··on Apple accidentally left Claude.md files Apple Support app
You're describing project-level shared resources, there are local versions of that like CLAUDE.local.md which should be gitignored
rektomatic··on The economics of software teams: Why most engineering orgs are flying blind

rektomatic··on The Singularity will occur on a Tuesday

rektomatic··on Two Amazon delivery drones crash into crane in commercial area of Tolleson, AZ
China is way ahead on what exactly? Regulation?
rektomatic··on The story of DOGE, as told by federal workers
Not saying anything about the actions themselves just pointing out what’s objectively true.
rektomatic··on The story of DOGE, as told by federal workers
> A private citizen given a power to destroy organisations that overlook that citizens businesses?

Except he had no power to do this? In the end the executive branch had to authorize anything coming out of DOGE. Like it or not, elected officials (Trump) rubber stamped the cuts.

rektomatic··on The story of DOGE, as told by federal workers
>you'll need to privatize the tasks / services which government agencies used to provide

Most of what DOGE cut was stuff no one wanted or needed in the first place. Just scroll their twitter feed, cutting this stuff shouldn't be termed as "smaller government".

rektomatic··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
> likely contributed to the Gen Z turnout that helped win in 2024

This is way over-estimated. There's a number of talking heads on the right that Gen Z listens to. For every Charlie Kirk, there's five others.
