rdavis··on Sublime Text 3.0
Check out NeoVintageous [0]. It's the continuation of Vintageous and adds some great features.

I also love i3wm but there are a few tiling window managers available on macOS [0] [1]. Not as easy to use as i3 last time I tried them however that was a while ago and they definitely deserve another shot.

rdavis··on Ask HN: Good examples of interactive command-line user experience?
I highly recommend ranger[0]. It's a very useful console based file manager with great vi key bindings.

The configuration is also very flexible and includes a python API to write your own commands[1].

I use tig every day and it is easily my favourite git client. I especially love the staging view and ability to stage individual lines.
rdavis··on WipeModules: A new CLI tool to free up space by wiping old node_modules folders
Very nice. I like that there is an option to set the inactivity threshold.

My method is considerably more primitive but works well enough. It's disturbing how long this process can take after a few npm installs.

function nmpurge --description 'Recursively delete all node_modules folders' --argument target
      if test -z "$target"
echo "Specify a directory to clean"
          return 1
      end

      find "$target" -name "node_modules" -type d -prune -exec rm -rf '{}' +
  end

It's working great in my fish shell now. Thanks for the speedy update!
rdavis··on Visual Studio Code 1.10
Nice! Some really great additions in this release. I'm particularly excited by the official Linux repos and keybindings in the file explorer.

Great work VSCode team! I'm continually impressed with each release.

rdavis··on Godot Game Engine – Tutorial Series
I've just started using Godot to create a hobby game too!

GDScript is very nice and simple and the guide is quite good but I definitely agree with you that the docs are fairly sparse, especially the API and class reference.

I've dabbled with Cocos2d-x in the past and am thoroughly impressed by the polish of Godot and so far have found it more approachable. The demo projects are also very full featured.

rdavis··on Why 2016 is such a terrible year for the Mac
The lack of a native 1Password client is one of the last major pain points I live with day to day in Linux.

Those Python utilities actually look really useful but as far as I can tell, they only interface with the older .agilekeychain version of the 1Password vault. I've been looking for something similar that understands the newer .opvault format but am yet to find anything that just works.
