Similar experience. I ended up switching to hocon with some extensions.

Interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing what you have lined up.

I work at Cloudera and I see it as roughly analogous to CDP, but I didn't see anything about hybrid on-prem/cloud deployments.
rch··on Home Prices Fell in February for First Time in 11 Years
Banks push this to the limit by making it comparatively expensive for individual buyers to build, preferring to offer loans for already overpriced homes.

Edit: At least this has been my experience. Have people found otherwise themselves?

It's a developer 'wants to provide real estate cash flow' issue. Same people who provide early startup funding in other markets looking to drive relo and office rents.

It's a good opportunity to scrape together novice teams so the mentors can add a line to their resume, and churn out some press for Mozilla.

The generated 'thank you for your leadership' message was amusing. If it's all fake, then what's the point?

rch··on Bee and butterfly numbers are falling, even in undisturbed forests
Mason bees, for instance, do ~3x the pollination work per-bee, and are relatively easy to accommodate in any garden or yard:

This doesn't make the overall collapse in biodiversity and insect biomass any less serious.

rch··on Why Python keeps growing, explained
I think that experiment is taking shape with Elixir:

I don't see how it could ever overtake Python, but it could establish itself as a viable niche alternative.

rch··on Apartment rents fall as new supply hits market
Exactly. It reads like the author is trying to frame seasonal effects as something else.

I've had some trouble getting bitwig running properly, and some graphics quirks with i3wm. Still happy with my setup overall though.

Someone also did a video walkthrough of this material recently. I don't have the link, but it might be worth searching for.

The comparisons are helpful, but I'm curious why Ozone wasn't included, since that seems like the most directly comparable alternative.

rch··on MIT faculty adopts “Statement on Freedom of Expression and Academic Freedom”
It seems to me that far too few "have the courage to use [their] own understanding," and that many would willingly abdicate intellectually to external authorities, provided the opportunity to do so without incurring social costs. A culture of open, potentially adversarial, discourse is incompatible with systems of thought which devalue the individual's capacity to reason, and so that culture itself is routinely undermined.

Take a look at Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs). They can incorporate diverted waste styrofoam, bulk mycelium, or maybe even biocomposite lattices.

rch··on Elastic UI – Component library for data-driven web apps
The tree view and data grid components don't seem to support lazy loading elements, which is particularly disappointing given how frequently I end up implementing that functionality in front of ElasticSearch and Solar.

Apologies if I'm overlooking something that simply isn't documented prominently. (FWIW I do see the pagination support on the grid, but I'm looking for fluid vertical and horizontal scrolling)

What of the installed base of water heaters, stoves, and home furnaces? These can all be converted to e.g. induction ranges and heat pumps, but the time and expense of doing so needs to be factored in.
