ravetcofx··on Show HN: Zerox – Document OCR with GPT-mini
I don't think openAI's api for gpt4o-mini has any such mechanism.
ravetcofx··on Use a work journal
That is one of those novel once in a generation kind of tools and concepts I feel. Outstanding
ravetcofx··on Writing HTML by hand is easier than debugging your static site generator
I do this with JS, which I know isn't great practice but works pretty well.
ravetcofx··on Traffic noise hurts children's brains

ravetcofx··on A new RISC-V Mainboard from DeepComputing

ravetcofx··on React 19 almost made the internet slower
I've noticed the internet becoming generally slow and laggy over the last few years for older computers and devices. Things from around and before 2015 to 2017 are becoming pretty unusable for doing basic web app tasks.
ravetcofx··on ChromeOS will soon be developed on large portions of the Android stack
They updated their Google nest smart display to fuchsia a couple of years ago. I can't find the write up at the moment, but it was quite the engineering feat and the software engineers were quite nervous the day of OTA.
ravetcofx··on Apple is finally bringing RCS messaging to the iPhone
Everyone I knew was on Hangouts pretty much. I don't know how or why Google squandered that opportunity. They split it out into Alo and Duo, and Duo became pretty popular but no one touched Alo. Then they switched Duo to Google Meet and lost many people again. Now most people I know just use Facebook Messenger for WhatsApp for personal video calls
ravetcofx··on Claude's Character
Do you have some examples?

What do you use bots for if you don't mind me asking? I've never found a use case for messaging app bots for personal or hobby use
ravetcofx··on Google to shut down Google One VPN on June 20
As a business owner thank God. That was an annoying stressful platform I disabled ages ago. Even when enabled it led to little to no leads, but created stress in response time which affected your placement and was featured prominently on the listing.

ravetcofx··on Before Goop: the 1970s roots of wellness
What I keep learning as a skeptic, there is untold health benefits in nature (when nature is scientifically proven it is medicine), but this certainly isn't being shared by crystals or homeopathy. And there is a lot to learn from information generationally passed down, Even if it isn't scientific it likely has chemical or biological purposes, and needs to be isolated. Dozens to hundreds of generations know their shit how to keep alive, maybe just not the minutia.
ravetcofx··on Ask HN: I have many PDFs – what is the best local way to leverage AI for search?

ravetcofx··on 'Irresponsible' to ignore consciousness across animal world scientists argue
It's also very likely plants have some sort of experience of the world that would be very alien to ourselves or animals. They have complex networks through roots and mycelial connections, communicate to one another through chemicals emitted and "smelled" through the air etc. By some this could be considered a form of consciousness. What that means for vegans I don't know
ravetcofx··on DuckDuckGo AI Chat
It takes effort to integrate large language models with RAG or vector databases in an application rather than just slapping a chatbot on
