Because you currently ship systems with firewall that is unable to filter outbound traffic per application. DnsCache bypasses filtering by effectively providing tunnel between localhost and external network interface. Maybe you know of a way to selectively limit access to DnsCache per application? effectively whitelist a couple and block the rest?

How about approaching this from the other end - reengineer windows filtering to allow control of localhost traffic.

One of the programs that does this is dnscache. It wouldnt be all that bad if localhost wasnt the actual named pipe instead of virtual network interface :( - you cant filter localhost traffic with a firewall in windows. This means everything with localhost access can speak to the internet (dns pipe) bypassing any firewall rules you might set.

This depends entirely on hardware. You can run good emulation of 8 bit computers (spectrum, c64, cpc) at ~hundreds to thousands the original speed using emulators written in C. Using emulator that barely reaches x10 factor as a performance benchmark for webassembly is questionable.

afaik CPC video is very basic, pretty much a raw MC6845 crtc. No sprites, no blitters, no dma. What is giving you so much problems performance wise?

introduced in ~2007 in Core 2 mobile CPUs (Penryns I think). You can load Middleton modded bios into your oldshool Thinkpad R61/T61 and it will enable dual IDA[1] in top CPUs.

You can even load modded(by chinese) modded middleton bios, solder one wire and plop $8 T9550 CPU for 2.66GHz boosting to 2.8GHz. You could even use quads, but its beyond uneconomical with cpus being more than whole used thinkpad T420.
