rasikjain··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (October 2026)
Location: Greater New York (US Citizen)

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: No

About: I am an experienced Generative AI engineer who is also hands-on across the full stack. For the past couple of years I have been building RAG pipelines, AI agents, and natural language search with LangChain, LangGraph, and vector databases, using OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini models. I care about taking GenAI features beyond the demo and into production, where users rely on them every day.

Outside of AI, I build user interfaces in React and TypeScript, APIs in Python and Node.js, and deploy on AWS and Azure. I like owning a feature from start to finish and keeping the code simple.

If your team is building products with LLMs, I would be glad to talk.

Technologies:

  • Generative AI: LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, Agentic RAG, AI Agents, Vector DBs (Pinecone, ChromaDB), LangSmith

  • Languages: Python, TypeScript, C#

  • Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS

  • Backend: FastAPI, Node.js, ASP.NET Core

  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, Docker, GitHub Actions

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (August 2026)
Location: Greater New York (US Citizen)

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: No

About: I am a Generative AI Engineer who also happens to be pretty hands-on across the full stack development. Most of my recent work has been building RAG pipelines, AI agents, and natural language search — using LangChain, LangGraph, and vector databases like Pinecone and ChromaDB — with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs under the hood. I care deeply about shipping GenAI features that hold up beyond the demo stage.

Beyond GenAI, I am working on the full stack — React/TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js or ASP.NET Core APIs on the backend, and AWS/Azure for infra. I like owning things end-to-end and building software that's simple and reliable.

Technologies:

  • Generative AI: LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, Agentic RAG, Prompt Engineering, Vector DB (Pinecone, ChromaDB, FAISS), Embeddings, Streamlit

  • AI/ML Stack: Python, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Redux, React Query, D3.js, Chart.js, MUI, Tailwind CSS

  • Backend: Node.js, Express, C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API, GraphQL, LINQ, Entity Framework

  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, SQL Server, AWS RDS, T-SQL

  • Security & Auth: JWT, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, Keycloak, ADFS

rasikjain··on Ask HN: How long do you use your personal laptop before replacing it?
0 - Software Engg

1 - Thinkpad

2 - Minimum 3 years. anything above that is bonus. (My 2015 MBP is still running fine)

rasikjain··on Ask HN: How long has it been since you last opened Stack Overflow?
I keep checking on profile if there is any activity. Other than that I haven't used SO for long time. It does not even come up in the google search results. Taking to LLMs like gemini, chatgpt etc does solve the technical problems.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: HN frontpage feels boring now?
Agree. I used to enjoy the nerd or technical articles on how stuff works, why it is optimized for speed, why it is not secure etc...more on technical stuff and the startup world ecosystem. Now a days I only see breaking news type of articles which I can easily find in any other websites.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: What companies have blown you away with their customer support?
Costco.

Their customer service and return policies.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
https://www.rasikjain.com

Software Engineer - FullStack. I write about React / TypeScript / Node

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
Yes, I use the bookmarks. While bookmarking I try to categorise a url with hashtags (e.g #javascript). This makes the search easier based on grouping of hashtags.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: How did you escape from corporate America?
Instead of working for a large corporation. Try working for small to mid size companies where you get to wear many hats and interact with many departments. This can be exciting and may open to other opportunities.

Other option is to go self-employed contract roles where you can set hours and bill rates. You can opt to work part-time and full-time based on your work-life balance and simultaneously fulfil your entrepreneurial impulses.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: What was the first database you used back in the day?
MS-Access. It was fun to learn the relationships and queries.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Can you recommend me a fast, light text editor for Windows?
Notepad++

Very fast, lightweight. Been using for 15+ years

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Which boring technology do you still use?
Whenever I want to make a decision, I put my thoughts on paper using a pencil. This clears my brain and helps me to make an informed decision after putting PROs and CONs of a choice/selection.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Options for Antivirus on Windows?
Just did the same.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Options for Antivirus on Windows?
Thanks, Will give it a try
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Options for Antivirus on Windows?
Thanks for the response.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Options for Antivirus on Windows?
Thank you HN.

I have uninstalled McAfee and using the default Windows security.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: How did you find your current job?
I am a full-stack engineer working with React. All the following worked. Not in any particular order.

1) LinkedIn 2) HN monthly hiring thread 3) Personal Portfolio / blog 4) GitHub

Main consistency about your bio across all platforms and keep engaging with subscribers or followers.

People do notice your activities and reach out to you when need arises.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Has anyone found a job from the monthly Who's hiring on HN?
Yes, I got long term contract roles from ASK HN Hiring thread. It is worth spending time to checkout quality posts and reaching out to them.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Non-tech professionals on HN?
I am in Tech and following HN since 2008.

Seen very talented people on HN and quality of comments is really good.

I like this thread and good to see people from different industries and verticals. Going to bookmark this URL :-)

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Best IDE for web/JavaScript, node dev
IDE: VSCode

Plugins: ESLint, GitLens, Prettier, Apollo GraphQL, Github Copilot, AutoImport, ES7/React/TypeScript Code Snippets.

VSCode with Plugins get the job done.

rasikjain··on Hugo Themes ranked by GitHub Stars
I was expecting to see 'Coder' theme in Top-10 and I am not disappointed.
rasikjain··on Does anybody else feel overwhelmed by the JavaScript ecosystem?
IMHO, don't chase the next fad thing.

Be an expert in two to three things. Currently, I concentrate on React, TypeScript, GraphQL, APIs (Axios). This keeps me busy and continue to be for next couple of years.

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Where do you find out about emerging technology?
From HN. Read the comments from HN folks to get insight into new tech.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Which static site generator has the best themes?
I use hugo and coder theme. Works for my website.

https://github.com/luizdepra/hugo-coder/

rasikjain··on Ask HN: Language-agnostic concepts a Backend Engineer should know?
Here are some of the concepts in no particular order. This is the quick list I came up based on my experience and usage.

1) RDBMS, NoSQL Concepts

2) Writing Queries and Joins

3) Connecting to Database native and ORM

4) HTTP Verbs like POST, GET, DELTE, PUT etc

5) Restful API and GraphQL Concepts

6) Session State, Application State, Caching and Safe Error Handling

7) Distributed Systems, SOA, Async Functions (i.e file handling)

8) Design Patterns, OOPs concepts (Abstraction, Interfaces etc)

9) Authentication, Authorization, Cryptography

10) Configuration, Minimum Privileges (e.g dbrole, server account etc)

rasikjain··on Ask HN: How to grow after 10 years in the industry?
Hi Shuki, I am interested in talking to you. you profile does not have contact info. How can I reach you? My contact is in my profile.
rasikjain··on The Prosperous Software Consultant (2018)
All good points about the marketing, billing and presence on social media. Worth reading for the folks who want to be in consulting side.
rasikjain··on Ask HN: Most Useful Cloud Certifications ( Azure, AWS, GCE, ... )
Certifications can act as filter when competing with other candidates. Candidates with certification will have edge during initial or first round. However it is not the deciding factor while making hiring decision.

If you want to learn new stack then please take the certification and get acquainted. Real world experience cannot replace the certification.

AWS has more popularity and acceptability. There are so much of free and paid tutorials online and one pass with relatively minimal effort.

If you are targeting to work in Enterprise sector, I would recommend to take Azure Cloud certification. Azure certs are gaining lot more traction.

Taking a Niche or Specialty certs like (AWS ML, AWS Security) will have lot more weightage during the interview process. The specialty certs are difficult to crack and need some real experience.

Here is my journey of taking AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certificate.

Good luck.

rasikjain··on How did Replit respond to this blog post?
Masad response does not seem to have the tone of apology. He is apologizing to the legal threat only. He is still not ready to accept about open source Project.

Good that Radon has responded well to that criticism and made communication transparent in his blog.

Setting the wrong tone from the position of CEO.
