raprp··on Ask HN: Are you a remote worker that escaped to the countryside?
After being in a remote dev job for a while and being confident I can find others in case this one go bad, I moved to a cheaper and smaller city in my country.

Just this move made my expenses drop around 30% and I was able to finally buy my home.

Angel List has lots of opportunities like that.

raprp··on React Native: A retrospective from the mobile-engineering team at Udacity
Thanks for the feedback. We've started investing heavily on RN and I was starting to get worried seeing big companies jumping ship.
raprp··on Novichok nerve agent strikes two new victims in the UK
Just before the Russian elections and the World Cup we have the first Novichok "attack". UK gov demands boycott of the world cup and all the news focus on Vlad "the Killer" Putin.

Russia starts doing well on the world cup, Sweden changes its mind and won't boycott it, trump-putin meeting scheduled and.... Novichok again.

It should be easy to see the BS of this narrative but the most amazing thing is that it works. People believe in it, demonize Russia and lose focus that the UK is miserably failing in the Brexit negotiations.

I hope Russia does not win the World Cup because I'm sure we would see another "attack" directly ordered by Vlad The Terrible.

By 'world' you mean Mars, right?

raprp··on Don't Over-React to the Facebook Patents License
It amazes me the number of people saying that nobody should be worried, that this license is nothing and even that libraries that do not use this license are riskier.

They added this license for a reason and they will use this leverage as much as they can and if you don't see that you are in denial.

If you cant move away from it, then stick with it. If you can move away or are still building your product just pick another framework and move on.

raprp··on Microsoft/.Net Foundation added telemetry to the dotnet command line last year
This has been discussed for over an year on this issue: https://github.com/dotnet/cli/issues/3093

They are just ignoring to let the issue die silently.
