ramuel··on Kalshi finds insider trading, a first for prediction markets
These platforms have been running for years with obvious signs of insider trading. I guess it's better late than never that someone was caught officially.
ramuel··on Anthropic drops flagship safety pledge
This was always just a marketing gimmick to try and crush competitors using "safety" and fearmongering. Reminds me a bit of "don't be evil." Convenient catchphrases and mission statements for companies in their infancy, but immediately thrown out when more money can be made.
ramuel··on Hegseth warns Anthropic to let the military use company's AI tech as it sees fit
Maybe they'll put claude in charge of the nukes.
ramuel··on OpenAI, the US government and Persona built an identity surveillance machine
Winston, obviously. He left behind his free-thinking and became unwavering to Big Brother. Truly a winner
ramuel··on Microsoft guide to pirating Harry Potter for LLM training (2024) [removed]
Well this is entirely believable for what Microsoft is up to nowadays. Copyright law and IP need not apply in 2026.
ramuel··on Micron Is Spending $200B to Break the AI Memory Bottleneck
Micron is so awesome, especially when they stopped selling to consumers. Who needs memory anyways for anything...
ramuel··on Ghidra by NSA
https://pwn.college has really good modules/dojos that cover a bunch of reverse engineering concepts.
ramuel··on Show HN: Infoseclist.com – Compare 90 cybersecurity tools ranked by practition
Seems pretty neat. Dealing with vendors is always fun...haha.

Any plans for ranking SIEM/SOAR/EDR or other defensive stuff?

ramuel··on Information Was Never Free. and It Never Will Be
It would have been extremely funny if this article was paywalled
ramuel··on Top Goldman Sachs Lawyer Kathy Ruemmler to Resign over Epstein Links

ramuel··on Ring cancels its partnership with Flock Safety after surveillance backlash
The Anthropic one? Although I'm sure they'll put ads into claude eventually
ramuel··on Spotify says its best developers haven't written a line of code since December
That sounds concerning...

How exactly are they measuring their best developers? Is "best" those with the most AI-generated code put into prod???

ramuel··on US payment processor BridgePay outage lasts a week due to ransomware attack
"BridgePay Network Solutions, LLC (BridgePay) is a transactional gateway leading the industry with robust data security technology and premium cloud-based solutions"

right...

ramuel··on WhatsApp says Russia tried to fully block service to push state app
Huh, the more you know. That's pretty interesting. I didnt know Telegram was banned nor the popularity of WhatsApp (and the new app) but I suppose it makes sense with the circumstances going on there. Appreciate it!
ramuel··on WhatsApp says Russia tried to fully block service to push state app
Is WhatsApp really that common in Russia? I would assume most people just use VK and Telegram.

ramuel··on Microsoft purges Win11 printer drivers, devices on borrowed time
Microsoft - a company with tens of thousands of engineers and billions of dollars in cash (plus assets), cannot support anything legacy, while concurrently failing to deliver a working product on any modern device. With more and more decisions like this, the year of the Linux desktop will be here sooner than we could have ever imagined.
ramuel··on We have an anti-aging vaccine. Why aren't more people getting it?

ramuel··on LinkedIn checks for 2953 browser extensions
We live in the best timeline.
ramuel··on CIA ends publication of its popular World Factbook reference tool
facts and data are no longer needed in the big 26.
ramuel··on Japan is considering nuclear subs. But are they worth the costs?
Japan needs a full-standing army, air force, and navy too, but demographics make that increasingly difficult.
ramuel··on FBI couldn't get into WaPo reporter's iPhone because Lockdown Mode enabled
Can't they just use Pegasus or Cellebrite???
ramuel··on Steve Bannon Proposes Using ICE in Elections
"Flood the zone"
ramuel··on Pinterest CEO fires 'obstructionist' employees who created tool to track layoffs
They're "obstructing" the unfettered profits.
ramuel··on US homebuilders working on plan to develop as many as 1M Homes
Lol at all the publicly traded companies noted there...they produce some of the worst homes possible. Shoddy materials and two-bit GCs whilst charging a fortune. Also there is no addressing where these are going to be built? There is a housing crisis in places people want to live. I have a feeling they aren't going to be making anything new in those places though.
ramuel··on Microsoft Campus Library Closes
Microslop continues to destroy anything and everything under their domain.

Libraries at the office that serve as definitive truth for relevant information?

Nah books are lame.

Office Suite?

Too logical. Let's just rename it to Copilot.

Windows updates that work?

Yeah right.

And the list goes on and on.

ramuel··on X offices raided in France as UK opens fresh investigation into Grok
Musk and X don't seem to be the type to care about any laws or any compelling legal requests, especially from a foreign government. I doubt the French will get anything other than this headline.
ramuel··on Young adults report lower life satisfaction in Sweden
correcto. Although to be fair that's not exclusively what I was implying.
ramuel··on Young adults report lower life satisfaction in Sweden
hmm what a mystery. I wonder why
ramuel··on Ask HN: Is it possible to get a job in CS without a degree?
Certainly. Many companies have degree requirements, but a lot do not. The value of degrees have also decreased in this space, especially with oversupply of graduates (most of whom are just using AI for everything).

Practical knowledge, and ideally experience will always eclipse degrees.
