rambojazz··on The death of the PCIe expansion card
Cutting down lanes sucks, but your GPU should still work fine on x8, with only minuscule difference (or none at all).
rambojazz··on Queen Elizabeth II has died
The same effect as watching a cartoon from your childhood.
rambojazz··on Ask HN: Any open source stack exchange clone
Q2A
rambojazz··on I'm an 18 year old developer. How do I become one of the best programmers ever?
This is such a weird and irrelevant request...
rambojazz··on The GPU Banana Stand
I didn't notice any psychedelic filter? Where can I see it?
rambojazz··on The GPU Banana Stand
Browsers are resource hogs, I'm not sure I'd want any 3D content more than is necessary. CSS alone is capable of hogging my CPU at 100%
rambojazz··on Show HN: GraphJSON – Easily log and analyze events using ClickHouse
Why is it called "Graph"? Sounds like a format for storing graph data.
rambojazz··on Petnames: A humane approach to secure, decentralized naming (2018)
I'm looking forward for the comments about this. I discovered/read about "pet names" a while ago, but I could not understand very well what problem they're trying to solve, and if they solve it.
rambojazz··on The copy and swap idiom in C++
I loved C++, for a while. I chose to leave its grammar's complexity behind too.
rambojazz··on Arctic melting four times faster than rest of the planet, study says
"The effect may be considerable in a few centuries"

So optimistic! We F'ed up way before that!

rambojazz··on Some Epson printers are programmed to stop working after a certain amount of use
They should simply make the part easily replaceable in a way that does not require a complete disassemble of the printer from top to bottom.
rambojazz··on Android 16 was programmed in BASIC (2011)
Peak click bait
rambojazz··on OneDev – A Lightweight Gitlab Alternative
Indeed... I guess people expect to use the web interface as their IDE, but no single web UI can fit everybody.
rambojazz··on OneDev – A Lightweight Gitlab Alternative
Why gitlab in particular?
rambojazz··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support
Genuine question: why has CI become so prominent that even small projects cannot live without? You have a small instance with 2 people using it. Why is CI a deal breaker?
rambojazz··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support
What is "drone"? And does Gitea require it, whatever it is?
rambojazz··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support
Once upon a time... search engines!
rambojazz··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support
I agree with this too. I witnessed the split too and feel exactly the same. Interestingly, NotABug have not switched to Gitea and is still running Gogs.
rambojazz··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support

rambojazz··on Mr. Rogers sued the KKK (2021)
"Well, how are you today, sir? Very well, I...." what are they saying? Can't understand the lyrics.
rambojazz··on Fields Medal was never meant for ‘the greatest mathematical genius' (2018)
40 seems incredibly old for an "emergent" talent in Maths
rambojazz··on Killbutmakeitlooklikeanaccident.sh
Would love to read an explanation of this.
rambojazz··on Research Suggests That Software Piracy Lowers Poverty
Sounds like the story of most of us, if not all.
rambojazz··on Why we’ve decided to decommission Gov.uk PaaS
I don't get it, are they saying that public organizations should move to using AWS/Azure/GCP?
rambojazz··on Meta Accounts: A New Login for VR
All I want is to be able to use the Oculus without any account at all. Just offline.
rambojazz··on Kyoto project is moving from GitHub to Sourcehut
> Codeberg is doing wonderful work

how are they different, or better, than any other floss instance (disroot, framagit, gitgud, savannah, NotABug, pagure, etc)?

rambojazz··on Kyoto project is moving from GitHub to Sourcehut
Why do you pay Codeberg and what is your role with them?
rambojazz··on Kyoto project is moving from GitHub to Sourcehut
ActivityPub does not address or solve the problem of discoverability, which is what the parent comment is talking about. So it's not a solution to that problem.
rambojazz··on I quit Android Development after 10 years and what I plan to do now
He is making a very valid point. My thought, too, went immediately to Android OS development and not to apps.
rambojazz··on Mastodon Branding Update
I might be color blind, or it's my monitor. It just looks blue to me.
