rama_vadakattu··on The Play Framework at LinkedIn
WE have written lot of code in Play 1.2.X all of a sudden they migrated to Play2.0 without any backward compatibility. This is sad.

WIth Play2.0 they introduced Scala Many folks has the opinion that Scala is complex, and i also lost trust in play because of no backward compatibility and i stuck up with huge code base which is not backward compatible

now iam looking build my other new applications on frameworks like Ruby on Rails , django leaving play.

rama_vadakattu··on Dealing with Wrist Pain
I too have wrist pain some time back.

To my understanding this kind of pain will come due to stiffness in the muscles in hands, shoulders, neck. This stiffness radiates the pain to wrist. After some months of pain i visited a famous doctor (http://www.deepaksharan.com/ (india)) he asked to take 6-7 session of Myotherapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myotherapy) and also suggested few exercises , good posture which has removed the pain from my wrist and hands.

If you want i can send you scanned copy of those exercise posters.(rama.vadakattu at gmail dot com)

I feel you should also consult a professional and get rid of that pain by myotherapy ,regular exercises and good posture.

It is defintely curable (although they may be few exceptions).

rama_vadakattu··on Data URI Sprites
>> Just include the sprite dimensional and positional info in an inline CSS stylesheet on the page and generate a sprite sheet as you would normally.

Which set of images do you generate sprite for? Take ebay search results page , for every search it displays a different set of images. How can we construct a static sprite a ahead of time? However we can generate a dynamic sprite.

rama_vadakattu··on Ask HN: How to get major bloggers write about my bootstrapped startup?
you have paying customers that is really great. you objective in reaching bloggers is to reach more customers.

Why not follow the other approach instead of waiting for their posts...............

one idea is

1.Make your product viral.[Focus more on creating a component which helps the user to refer this product to their friends at some benefit etc..] Dropbox is a great example free 250 MB storage if you refer a friend.

rama_vadakattu··on Balsamiq's new UX Blog
Thanks peldi for clarification.
rama_vadakattu··on Balsamiq's new UX Blog
Just curious to know

Is there any specific reason for having different blogs for every individual instead of a single company blog ?

rama_vadakattu··on I gave up a day job to make a living from online income
And if you are building some software try to partner with another guy whose has similar interests as that of you.

Don't do it alone it is bit hard.

rama_vadakattu··on Ask HN: Review my site -- socialreader.net
yeah exactly iam bit worried as i am relying on friendfeed platform .As they are acquired by Facebook i donot for how much time will they support their API.

For scoring/shares i used the following simple algorithm like

1)Number of people shared this link

2)Blog popularity (i.e) If the blog is popular more shares has to happen for it to appear on appropriate topic popular page.

Any other ideas on improving the algorithm?

rama_vadakattu··on Ask HN: Review my site -- socialreader.net
I thought a lot on this application.

Can you please guide me on

1)Is this idea worth trying and to focus on? Iam relying on

    a) friendfeed API to fetch diverse content like delicious, facebook,Google Reader
    b) twitter API for twitter
2) Its sole aim is to provide interesting content for a topic (users can rely on this if he needs to keep track on a topic ),

3)What parts of the application requires an improvement?

Thanks

rama_vadakattu··on Tricks That Make You More Attractive to Clients
One more important thing is to

1)share your experiences of your work via blog

This helps you in increasing the trust with your potential clients and to find new clients by means of inbound marketing see below link:

rama_vadakattu··on Ask HN: What do you wish you had known before starting up ?
The below may be seem simple but i don't know when i was starting up :( ................

1.Don't go alone atleast partner with one or two similar minded person .

2.Keep run way for atleast 1 to 1/1/2 Year.(nothing auto magically happens)

3.More features will not make your product popular. Implement few set of features which uniquely showcases the core idea. These features has to be done very very very well (remarkable).

4.Atleast one mentors in same area.

etc..........

rama_vadakattu··on Planet Django
One important addition that you can make is to add popularity metric to each post so that readers can segregate popular posts vs non popular posts.

One such thought of adding popular metric is:

1)Track the number of shares happening for that post in twitter, delicious,Google Reader (via Friendfeed API).

rama_vadakattu··on DjangoCon 2009 Presentations
Any clue on when the DjangoCon 2009 videos will be available online?
rama_vadakattu··on Tips to a new django developer
Very valid point. One thing which i would like to mention is the idea is really powerfull and pinaxproject has just started.I think it really takes quite an amount of time for the project to get maturity. I think still we need to put more thought on the below questions...........

1.How can we easily plug/unplug the django apps?

2.How easily can we customize a single app effectively?

rama_vadakattu··on Ask HN: Where do you find clients?
The new way to find clients is by following the below principles ...........

1.Start a blog

2a.Write the content which showcases your expertise

2b.Identify pain points and share your expertise in those areas

2c.publish the interviews of various persons who are (experts / kind of popular ) in the area in which you are doing consulting.(or) any good content which will of interest to target audience.

2d.in above way you will be building the audience and trust.and people will referring you to their friends if any need arises.

3.Make sure your content is very good/remarkable so that people can share..........

4.As your content spreads you will be known to many people and inturn they will ask you /your company to help on their project.

5.And also develop tools which will be helpfull to target audience.( A good tool spreads like any thing which inturns spreads your company name)

6.Participate actively in various online groups (related to the area in which you are doing consulting) .

you will be suprised when people are contacting you...........

7.Keep an eye on SEO as search engines are driving huge traffic to sites.(good landing page, blog will help in improving the SEO)

8.Adwords (spend some amount on adwords for good targeted keywords to attract diverse audience)

The above is popular referred to as inbound marketing (i.e you will not shout/beg at your prospects for getting leads inturn prospects are coming to.........:))
