rahilsondhi··on Zurb Launches Foundation 4
Mobile first is just a new paradigm where you make your application fit a mobile screen first, then your second step is to scale up to web (or tablet).

Doing mobile first forces you to distil your app to just exactly the right components you need to achieve your product goal because there's so little real estate. It prevents you from adding non essential bullshit that you could easily throw into your design if you started with web.

rahilsondhi··on Ask HN: How do you keep up?
I'm trying to go deep in two things right now: Ruby and JavaScript. The frameworks and new popular languages don't matter to me right now, my goal is to become an expert in Ruby and JavaScript because I know I'll be able to transfer those skills to the next popular language when the industry changes. But just doing weekend tutorials on every new technology is not going to get you anywhere. Anyone can learn a little about a lot.

Point is, get really really good at one or two things and you'll be able to transfer easily. Doesn't matter what those one or two things are.

rahilsondhi··on Obama endorses required high school coding classes
I don't get why everyone all of a sudden needs to know how to program. There's more to the world than the iOS SDK...why does every kid need to be able to write an app? I really don't understand.
rahilsondhi··on Poll: Do you use Google Reader on a daily basis?
I used to check it daily, but now I've stopped because of information overload. The most important news finds its way to me (eg through Facebook or Twitter shares), otherwise, I'm much more productive just getting some work done.
