rabino··on Ask HN: Is it just me or why does Docker suck so much?
did you just post your s3 secret key?
rabino··on Ask HN: Is it just me or why does Docker suck so much?
I've adopted Docker in my main dev workflow and I'm super happy. And the 4 or 5 co-workers I showed how it works have since adopted it too.

I think it's very possible it's just you.

rabino··on Google to prioritise secure websites
But they also prioritise speed right? So if you have the same site served both in HTTP and HTTPS, which one will win?
rabino··on Pinboard Turns Five
Maciej, if you are reading this... can you implement some kind of optional recurring charge? I want to pay you at least every year. I feel I'm stealing from you.

No, I don't want to pay for archives. It's not a service I find useful for me.

rabino··on So you want to be a PHP Developer?
Also, this: https://github.com/ziadoz/awesome-php
rabino··on The security hole I found on Amazon.com
Why? You have a lot of ways to hack a WordPress site?
rabino··on Native GUI library for Go
and the most important of all, 2048Swift, which of course happened already.

rabino··on Abandonware archive
There are some fun pieces of history in there. There's no commercial value, but it's like having a museum of software.
rabino··on Andreessen Horowitz Purchases Startup Accelerator Y Combinator For $266 Billion
The 226 billion gave it away. No chance they will sell for less than half a trillion.
rabino··on Shrturl: Faking the web since 1942
I knew something was going to be changed, and still fell for it. Good job.
rabino··on Atlassian Developer Makes A Horribly Sexist Presentation At A Tech Conference
Some say analogies are at the very core of our cognition.

Even if you don't agree, it's an interesting and fun talk to watch.

rabino··on Camlistore – open-source personal storage system for life
Exactly. But keep it quiet because I'm going to meet Brad in a conference in a few months and I don't want to freak him out.
rabino··on Camlistore – open-source personal storage system for life
If you are learning / playing with Go(Lang) you should definitely take a look at this source.

As a tool it's a bit rough yet, but it's going to be awesome.

Disclaimer : I have a man crush with Brad Fitzpatrick. Well, mostly with his code.

rabino··on Do not learn another programming language
I love languages in general, and programming languages in particular. I find it really fun to learn new ones. And on top of being fun, hopefully each new one I learn will add some tools to my communication belt.
rabino··on The Swift Programming Language
Elm has had a "time traveler" debugger for a while http://debug.elm-lang.org/
rabino··on Introducing Swift
This is not new though. See http://debug.elm-lang.org/
rabino··on What is the Longest Disambiguation Page on Wikipedia?
It's not _that_ safe though. Try calling an ambulance during a stress situation.
rabino··on Altair 8800 – Loading 4K BASIC with a Teletype [video]
btw, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bymOIRg5M9E
rabino··on Don't learn to code. Learn to think
Learning to code gives you a good framework to learn to think. By all means, it's not the only one. But it's one that also gives you a good shot at a good salary.
rabino··on Ask HN: What do you do when your entire being opposes the task at hand?
Open HN.

No, seriously. I go work somewhere where people can see my monitor. Helps me keep out of Facebook, etc.

rabino··on Google open-sources JsAction, a JavaScript event delegation library
I like they are putting this on Github instead of (or on top of) Google Code
rabino··on Starting An Airline
With the exorbitant costs of maintenance and fuel, plus the prorated cost of the plane itself, I'm wondering how much impact those small-ish changes could have.
rabino··on Practical Tmux
Mostly, see my response to mnem.

Also, tmuxp is python instead of ruby, and it gives you an API to interact from your python code with tmux.

rabino··on Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid
Without any doubt one of my favorites ever. Few books had so much impact on me
rabino··on Practical Tmux
Also tmuxp allows you to save the settings from a running session into a config file. That's gold.
rabino··on Practical Tmux
If you use tmux a lot, I can't recommend tmuxp enough. https://github.com/tony/tmuxp
rabino··on Functional programming explained in Clojure with a terminal-based game
Thanks! This was awesome to visualize some abstract concepts I've read about but never implemented.
rabino··on Throttler: a Clojure library for rate limiting
It looks more like it's for limiting your own outbound API calls, or resources usage, etc.
rabino··on "If you're over 30, you're a slow old man" – Zuckerberg. He turns 30 tomorrow.
Most of the time what changes is cosmetics, not paradigms. And also being productive is just not about code, it's about time management, human interaction, strategic thinking... All stuff that gets better with experience.
rabino··on TagSpaces – Open-source personal data manager
Don't over fixate in a single data point. I give my family a pretty good life thanks to that WordPress community, and all my colleagues do too. Both in the services and products space.

That "ugliness" you mention has worked really well for my career and I know more people that think the same than people that think the opposite.
