just reading this gives me a headache

r_lee··on Grok 4.7
they are bugs with the model. Sol regularly glitches out and will type out random stuff even in tool calls. I'm guessing this is when they have capacity problems

there is a subscription service, Google AI plans or Workspace
r_lee··on Grok 4.7
this is quickly disproven by using GPT models. they don't have this problem.

this is specifically an Anthropic problem, maybe due to their heavy use of Claude to train Claude itself?

r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
political crusade? and yes I dislike the taste of the AI slop posters as seen in the introduction of the article
r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
what are you even trying to imply here?

should I be complimenting these default AI slop posters or be feeling good about them?

I never felt this way towards low effort / simple posters before, I thought they were fine

r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
> who have a visceral reaction to the concept of AI

why do you think this is the reason?

should I be cheering and clapping when someone goes on chatgpt and say "make me a poster" and they think they're a genius when this slop comes out?

r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
yeah

although I guess it's that the author used the same context with the original generated image and thus it just reused that icon+text thing

but in general, these models do seem to be kind of just go for an information-dump type of style where its just listing everything and putting as much stuff in that is associated with the words, which is what these LLMs do

so you'd probably need to steer them heavily with explicit instructions on what to do and how to get rid of it, which I'd bet nobody will actually do when making these posters

r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
> But again, what they replace wasn't any better.

I would argue otherwise.

whereas before I'd take a glance and go "hm interesting" or whatever, with these its just "oh look, it's AI slop" and that's all I will notice

r_lee··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
these are definitely better.

I really wonder what's going on in the minds of those who make the shitty AI posters? like, are they that unaware?

for me when I see them I just get instantly repulsed

I would never trust these Chinese vendors with their tooling or their own inference endpoints.

afaik DeepSeek also trained on everything that was sent to them via OR and that's why you got that massive discount

> and being unwilling to explain why

why would I post any videos of myself on youtube? why would i do anything you ask me to? are you gonna do whatever I ask you to do?

you really have this idea that you're somehow entitled to make people do whatever you want because of your beliefs

which I think is funny because I thought that's exactly what you're against

> So thank you sir, you have given me exactly what I wanted and predicted and expected from you.

and like you quoted me, this very much applies: "convinced that no matter what, you're right". you quite literally are following me around because you feel like you have the right to make me believe what you believe.

> because you call people names for disagreeing with you when you're wrong

no, that was you who said that I was a boot licker and all kinds of stuff when I had said literally nothing against you. I then proceeded to simply counter your accusations and was very reasonable with you while you kept on accusing me of things and telling me that I needed to make a video of myself doing a "Nazi salute" because Mr God himself Don Hopkins told me to do so

it is of my belief that based on all the evidence, Elon is not a Nazi and does not hate the Jews, and that the salute that he did was an awkward salute because he is well known for his awkward and weird behavior both on stage and online.

thus, there is no reason for me to do whatever you're forcing me to do, because you're stuck in your beliefs and you're trying to force them onto me because you can't accept the fact that others think otherwise and have their own opinions and views.

and here you are, I believe 3+ days in and you're still following me around because you're seemingly obsessed with me (otherwise why would you be doing this?)

r_lee··on New $100k H-1B visa fee pushes tech jobs offshore
who are you to tell me to do anything?

it is your opinion that that was a Nazi salute. I do not believe Elon is a Nazi who praises Hitler, otherwise why wouldn't everyone have cut ties with him?

there are millions and millions of people who also believe he is not a Nazi, are you going to go after every single one of them too?

r_lee··on We got admin access to Baseten's production GitHub
I think that's a bit different.

for real security bugs, like, you can literally sell them to brokers who sell them to governments. would selling stuff to the CIA be ghetto?

morally, it depends. but after seeing so many posts of e.g. Google cheapskating on bug reports, it really makes no sense to me to participate in such a broken system.

this case however is quite different as it was a B2B encounter and during vendor vetting

like to me it just seems like a fair deal, if Google wants their bugs patched (which they can definitely afford to do) they'd just pay properly for serious bugs and so on, and everybody would be happy. it's not some kind of thing where they can't do anything about.

maybe you can understand the angle I'm coming from?

r_lee··on New $100k H-1B visa fee pushes tech jobs offshore
only someone who is seriously disturbed would do this for days on end over something so silly as a programming language

I have never called anyone names because they read my post history, I've in fact put links so people can go read everything I've written at their pleasure, which you called something like "boot licking comments that don't deserve to be linked"

and for example "are you pretending to be stupid here?" was me repeating what you said to me, same with "your act". why are you upset that I used the exact words you threw at me?

and really, "unable to take criticism", "convinced that no matter what, you're right", "You need to cool down" and etc. are personal attacks?

why are you so obsessed with me that you find the need to follow me around HN and post this stuff under my replies?

like this is ridiculous

r_lee··on A single firm is behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta hacking scandals
interesting.

> Sure, interest like an incoming congressional investigation

I feel like that's exactly what they wanted tho.

they'll go on and talk about how dangerous AI and the models are and why they should be regulated and given licenses to operate such models and others should be walled off

r_lee··on A single firm is behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta hacking scandals
honestly, the hacking incidents have caused a lot more interest and media attention than the math stuff IMO.
r_lee··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
the commenter never implied that they don't

but anyone familiar with how China positions itself knows that they always say things like: "our space stuff is 100% peaceful we dont have any military stuff there, the imperialist West is lying! we are never aggressive, we are only peaceful and defensive"

and when someone else does something they always urge them to act according to international law and to not escalate

> The follow up arguments will be that since billion dollar companies ultimately only care about their bottom line, so should we.

so it should be fought by giving them free work in the hopes that they'll finally feel guilty and then start paying proper bounties?

like to me that just seems funny, as if they'd change anything if we'd keep rewarding them for not doing the right thing

like, there's a reason regulation exists for all kinds of shit because otherwise companies would do all kinds of atrocities in hopes of cutting costs

r_lee··on We got admin access to Baseten's production GitHub
> The front page post in HN here is worth far more than few thousand dollars , don’t think either organization is operating under purely financial transactional nature .

not always, especially if its just someone independent. iirc there was a guy here not too long ago who started dropping Windows 0days because Microsoft couldn't be assed to process his bug reports

r_lee··on We got admin access to Baseten's production GitHub
of course not, all they can do is a lil "thx"

> This sends the message that honest researchers should not waste their time looking for vulnerabilities in Baseten, but it's a good target for criminals who want to monetize these vulnerabilities.

of course, these companies want you to sell vulns to brokers and other orgs. they don't care about bug reports.

otherwise they'd pay as much or even more, right?
