which means other than a small handful of power users most people will continue using chrome, and websites will continue prefering to put it first, continuing the cycle

im curious to see what effect ublock not working as well on chrome as it will on firefox will have to the demographics, if there's no shift then that's a hurdle that has to be overcome by either firefox by some sort of engineering, google, or via legislation

r3d0c··on Why are Apple Silicon VMs so different?
so you have to pay apple an ongoing fee to be able to manage your own files?

does that seem rational?

also such a weird line of thought that buying a single apple product isn't enough to be able to use it properly, and that any criticism of apple is just "us plebs using it wrong and not paying them more money"

r3d0c··on Why are Apple Silicon VMs so different?
pay apple again to be able to manage your own files, lol..

did i say it wasn't ok to like people? i used the word idolize, almost like they're different words with different definitions
r3d0c··on Purple Llama: Towards open trust and safety in generative AI
it literally does, how are you just blatantly changing the definition of words

you're just straight up lying now or just don't care about objective facts &/or reality

lol... but he has been saying "it'll be out next year" for many years

but please, keep defending in bad faith

> inherently contains such information.

no it doesn't, it'll contain a phone number to a clinic, then you'll have to look up what kind of clinic it is

you're telling me the receptionist answering the phone at the clinic won't mention the name of the clinic when someone calls?

and stick to objective points and don't fault me by calling it nitpicking because your argument falls apart when basic critical thinking is applied to it

r3d0c··on Tesla shares 48V architecture with other automakers
weird comment... maybe we shouldn't feel the need to idolize humans...
r3d0c··on Governments spying on Apple, Google users through push notifications
> You're assuming these things are mentioned. "Hi, I'd like to book/confirm an appointment with Dr. Jones." doesn't leak information about "abortion".

yes it does.. just look up who dr jones is; is the metadata going to say "this lady is getting an abortion" ?

r3d0c··on Governments spying on Apple, Google users through push notifications
how will actual data not be more informative? you can easily infer what the appointment was because the phone call will mention the name of the doctor or office and you can look that up plus all the details they discuss

you'd still have to look up who the doctor they called is from the metadata; it's still info but absolutely not more informative than the real data

so this line of thought makes no sense, and glenn greenwald should be looked at very skeptically in general, he sounds smart but when you look at his logic closer it breaks down

r3d0c··on I think I need to go lie down
sorry to dither your ego, but it's not; prove it, but i guess lying to yourself is easier than accepting you're wrong

and destroying their future plans they might have set in motion that will be derailed because of management's incompetance, they don't have money that much money to float on specially in this economy where everything is overpriced, almost like they are humans with their own histories and possibly other people depending on them, did you really try and consider their perspective or was dehumanizing them your first instinct?

but i doubt management will be fired will it? they'll end up with nice fat stacks of bonuses for making terrible business decisions

keep defending the real incompetants though

r3d0c··on Cybertruck Launch
ah yes the "you live in society yet you criticize it" logic, you think i have a choice in the fact that we live in a fossil fuel car dependant society?

what a shallow unnuanced "critique", on brand for this website

something unrelated improved overtime so something else unrelated will also improve to whatever goal you've set in your mind

weird logic circles yall keep making to justify your beliefs, i mean the world is very easy like you just described if you completely strip all nuance and complexity

people used to believe at the start of the space race we'd have mars colonies by now because they looked at the rate of technological advancement from 1910 to 1970, from the first flight to landing on the moon; yet that didn't happen because everything doesn't follow the same repeatable patterns

r3d0c··on I think I need to go lie down
nope
r3d0c··on Sam Altman is still trying to return as OpenAI CEO
just sounds like billionaire tech bros wanting to appear smarter and more important than they really are and a weird cult like obsession with AI at the expense of the rest of humanity even though AGI won't be possible for like a hundred or so years
r3d0c··on I think I need to go lie down
lol, this magical thinking; also not AI, it's ML
r3d0c··on Smart drugs reduce quality of effort, and slow decision-making
the opposite for me, makes it easier for me to solve problem because i can cohesively hold multiple thoughts in my head for long enough for me to see the patterns to be able to understand them, along with the emotional regulation an increase in executive functioning ability that meds help with (which is what adhd really is, not just problems with motivation or bad at concentrating)

but i also work out 5-6 days a week and that + meds have been a huge boon than just meds because it keeps the depression down too, which is what you might be afflicted with because on my rare off days i still can do some work & be motivated

r3d0c··on Tragedy of return to hostile offices
if their professions allowed them to work from home they should be

don't know what this argument is supposed to be? seems like something a ceo made up to emotionally justify their position rather than based in any sort of objective reasoning

things shouldn't get better because other things haven't gotten better? is that the crux of your argument?
