r12s··on A decade of writing at Mozilla
Congrats on the 10 years and thanks for the inspiration that is MDN! Respect.

And +1 to the sentiment in the comments here. As a marketer and technical writer on an open source project, documentation is an often overlooked part of what makes a good project great. It's a somewhat thankless task, since if done well few really notice and if done badly it's painfully obvious.

r12s··on Entrepreneurs think they’re badass
Yeah, me too. While I'm at it, really loved the post, made me smile (a lot). So you're "fourth time lucky" ;-)
r12s··on Lawrence Lessig Interviews Edward Snowden [video]
The threat doesn't need to be as extreme (or binary) as assassination, presumably you mean by a government? Incarceration in a Federal prison and/or torture under questioning are imho personal threats to safety. And cynically I believe any "backlash" would last about as long as the media cycle at the time.
r12s··on Why a Better OpenType User Interface Matters
Ditto for Hoefler's explanation of Stylistic Sets, using Whitney as an example:

As an aside I agree with the article, esp. the need for "a type interface that is consistent throughout [Adobe's] apps".

The "ruthless" spring clean is a similar tradition in our household. Now, if only we hadn't bought all the stuff we "no longer care about" in the first place.
r12s··on Bezos Faces Season of Worsts as Losses Mount
Benedict Evans (Andreessen Horowitz) wrote an excellent post on Amazon's "profits". The comments are good value too.

As for the Fire Phone and it's product discovery functionality, I get Bezos' vision (I think ...) which would be a world with only one retailer.
