I don't wasn't the prompt to feed my own LLM, i want the prompt because i don't give a shit about the LLM and only care what you have to say

Except I'm lying, i don't want the prompt either, i want your human writing because even bad human writing is less insufferable than LLM slop

Hard to believe in this the year 2026 CE that somebody cares enough to cry about the letters used to denote the year

When AI can write quality prose maybe you'll have a point

Every single time Claude wrote a comment i replied in all caps FUCK YOU CLAUDE I TOLD YOU NEVER TO WRITE COMMENTS, WRITE IT DOWN SO YOU NEVER FORGET: YOU DO NOT WRITE COMMENTS. ONLY HUMANS WRITE COMMENTS. and after like 3 or 4 rounds of this it finally stuck and i haven't seen a Claude comment on my personal machine in months.
queenkjuul··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
One coworker had their agent respond to me, with "from Claude : robot emoji:" at the end, that made me mad.

Then another coworker just pasted the Claude response with no signature and no comment and no context as if they had written it themself. That made me livid. I used to like that guy. No respect anymore.

queenkjuul··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
When i first added "do not write comments" to my Claude.md, it started deleting all comments it came across. I yelled at it a bunch, eventually it got its md files aligned to where it's very clear: Claude does not write comments. Claude does not edit comments. Claude does not delete comments. Claude does not move comments. Only humans touch comments.

It's been working well for me for months now. If only I could convince the team to do it too

queenkjuul··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
I had Claude knock out a feature but it was too big of a change set for a single PR so i set up a worktree and started extracting parts piecemeal. Along the way I would clean up and rewrite pieces. By the end of this process i had abandoned everything Claude wrote and looking back at the original branch I was like "oh my god, that's so bad in so many ways, i can't believe i was actually just gonna ship that"
queenkjuul··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
Personally I'm criticizing every single comment until I quit the industry or my coworkers convince their Claudes to shut up.

Maybe I'll sneak in a change to CLAUDE.md telling it to stop

But half the time these paragraph-long comments don't even make sense, or refer to a previous iteration of the branch that has since been deleted and nobody including the author ever looked at

I just today noticed how the "install app" button is placed precisely under (and around) the "sign up" overlay's close button. Sneaky bastards.

Did you respond to the wrong comment?

I don't use Facebook. I have a text message group chat with my friends where occasionally links to Instagram get posted. That's why i occasionally interact with Instagram, and why i asked if you have such a group chat

Windows 2000 is the epitome of Windows UI to me, probably because my first PC had Me which borrowed the desktop from it. As i kid I didn't even notice it was different from the 98 machines at school, but when i set up 98SE for retro gaming as an adult I couldn't shake this "something isn't quite how i remember" feeling.

Then i set up 2000 as a server for the retro machines and everything clicked. Kind of amazing how many control panels in Windows 10 and 11 are essentially unchanged from 2000

queenkjuul··on Show HN: Desktopcolors.com – A museum for solid background colors of classic OS
I like the colors but I'm personally getting very sick of every single website using That One Font Claude Likes for everything.

I think the mono is IBM Plex? Idk what the other one is, but I'll be looking it up so as to be certain i never use it in my projects lol

queenkjuul··on Text AI watermarks will always be trivial to remove
Not only are they huge, they often don't even really make sense, or assume the reader has all the same context as the person who wrote the code to begin with.

Basically 90℅ of my PR review comments now are "reword or delete this comment block, it's not helpful as-is"

queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
Why shouldn't they have to exclude them? Cigarettes and alcohol are addictive for everyone but we require vendors to proactively exclude minors and only minors.

I mean look, up to me, sure, ban Facebook entirely or whatever, but i genuinely don't get why they shouldn't be required to exclude kids if they're gonna exist?

queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
That is literally exactly what this bill does
queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
No, because the part of the law everyone is ignoring is that it forces social media companies to serve different content to minor accounts than adult accounts. Right now there is no filtering, it's on or off. Your kids get adult tiktok or they get no tiktok. With this bill, they get kid tiktok, if you as the parent voluntarily set up their account as such
queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
Multiple states already have actual verification laws, Illinois is specifically choosing not to use that power
queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
Read the bill, it defines what it means, unlike this clickbait claudeslop article

queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
> it's a foot in the door for demanding that websites and apps care about that age range.

This has been the case for literally decades. Social media sites aren't (technically) supposed to allow users under 13, and porn sites have obviously had this concern since forever.

This law does in fact make parental controls better by forcing the social media companies to change how they present content to minors.

I don't totally disagree that the impetus should be on the social media companies instead of the OS but i also genuinely don't see a problem with a voluntary adult/minor flag with a consistent API either

queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
You're welcome to just set your kids up with adult accounts? There's no enforcement on the user side of this. Frankly if i still had Facebook I'd be finding a way to tell it im 17 to get rid of harassment from strangers and the worthless engagementmaxxing feed
queenkjuul··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
You can't add Nintendo Online accounts without being the account owner. I have a Nintendo family plan, I'm the only person that can add or remove accounts to the online access service, and i decide whether each account is an adult or a child. For offline accounts like kids can make locally, its obviously irrelevant
