quechimba··on The Promise of 5-MeO-DMT
Where is this center located? Near Iquitos by any chance? And in that case, do you have Starlink, and if so, what speeds do you get?
quechimba··on The Promise of 5-MeO-DMT
Last time I drank ayahuasca with huambisa/chaliponga (contains 5-meo-dmt) I vomited every 5-10 minutes for about 4 hours. It was horrible, and I had to ask for help because I couldn't even get up and refill my water bottle. Chacruna is more gentle and smooth.

quechimba··on Solar power is changing life deep in the Amazon
I wish Iquitos had solar powered mototaxis.

My brother lives in a village nearby and everyone has solar panels there now. They pay 35 soles/month for it, which is cheaper than the generators they had before which they loaded with 5 soles worth of gasoline every night.

quechimba··on RubyJS-Vite
Thanks!

Both! I needed something like JSX, and I found Rux [1] but I had some issues with it, and then I found syntax_tree-haml [2] which gave me an AST that I could transform into Ruby. This is what the transformation looks like: https://gist.github.com/aalin/c0e4b0360a1f84d0283149fe4b2ce6...

I have always liked Haml because it's compact and easy to read.

quechimba··on RubyJS-Vite
I'm working on a framework inspired by React/Next.js which turns Haml into Ruby. It's 100% server side, but it runs pretty fast. I'm currently working on a rewrite, I just wish I had more time to work on it.

quechimba··on Show HN: Exponentile – A match 3 game mixed with 2048
This game is really fun. My highscore is 60328 after a few days :)
quechimba··on A disk so full, it couldn't be restored
I had an external hard drive that I overfilled by accident while making a manual backup of media files, and after that I couldn't even mount the APFS volume. Apparently it's something that can happen.

In the end I was able to mount and rescue the data using https://github.com/libyal/libfsapfs

I followed this guide: https://matt.sh/apfs-object-map-free-recovery

quechimba··on Medellín's Green Corridors
Of course. But for the most part it's beautiful. My best friend used to drive taxi and when I had nothing to do I would go with him in the car while he was working, so I've been around. I like the architecture in the barrios.
quechimba··on Medellín's Green Corridors
Medellín is the most beautiful city I have ever been to. It's very green and clean.

I started using Rails in 2006 and React in 2014. I like TypeScript.
quechimba··on Helio: Libre Music Composition Software
This looks great. I like the chord palette, I would like to have something like that in Bitwig.
quechimba··on IT employment grew by just 700 jobs in 2023
I have never had problems finding work, until now. It used to be easy. Recruiters used to call me at night. Now they ghost me.

quechimba··on Fixing annoying blue standby lights
I've been using black diamond headlamps. In recent years they replaced their battery indicator LEDs to some really strong blue ones. I use the red light a lot, and when I turn it off, the battery indicator LEDs will light up the entire room. I have covered mine with electrical tape, but the blue light shines through the plastic so it doesn't really work and my headlamp looks ugly.

I don't know why they would do this. The first headlamp I got from them had red, yellow and green battery indicator LEDs, now they have 3 blue ones. It's really annoying. I should probably write them an email and ask them to fix it.

quechimba··on Hamlet: A type-safe Haml template engine for Go
Looks good, Haml is a great templating language.

The biggest problem with Haml is probably that it's really difficult to write a tree-sitter parser for it. In this case, you would have to parse both haml, go, CSS and JavaScript and be aware of indentation.

quechimba··on Hamlet: A type-safe Haml template engine for Go
I use Haml in my web framework, I use syntax_suggest [1] to count the missing pairs so I can insert them automatically at the end of the block. It would probably not be too difficult to do the same thing in Go.

quechimba··on 2TB microSD card is on the way early next year
I remember many years ago when my uncle explained to my grand dad how many photos he could fit in his cameras memory card. He was completely blown away, he couldn't believe it, he said it was impossible and laughed.

quechimba··on Ask HN: Coding on Your Phone?
My laptop died from humidity a few years ago and I had to get some work done so I installed Termux, zsh, tmux, vim, postgres, node and Ruby on my phone. Worked really well! I would recommend an external keyboard though.
quechimba··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
Mayu, a server side web framework written in Ruby, inspired by React. Been working on it for over a year, and I'm currently doing a complete rewrite now that I have a better idea of how it should work.

quechimba··on Amazon Rain Forest Is Drying
My brother lives in a village about 1.5 hours down the river from Iquitos. He's running an ayahuasca retreat and I'm there helping out. :)
quechimba··on Amazon Rain Forest Is Drying
I'm on a boat on the Amazon river right now and I've never seen the water being this low ever.
quechimba··on Ask HN: ARM Laptop Suggestions?
It's really slow. YouTube works but browsing is really slow overall. I installed Manjaro with KDE on mine and quickly changed to i3 because the trackpad isn't that good so moving windows around wasn't really fun. When I got the graphics drivers to work, Alacritty ran pretty good and I used it for coding. I wouldn't recommend it for any serious work.
