So at this point it is ready for passing traffic through a SOCKS proxy. Meaning we can `cargo run --release -- proxy` and redirect applications to use port `9150` for their network connections.

Couple of related questions:

- Does anyone know, in a Linux distro, how to pass all system traffic through a SOCKS proxy port? I'm not looking for intermediary proxy handlers but an official method to force all user and system apps to use an arbitrary port.

- If it is not possible to do so, does `NetworkManager` have a setting for this?

- Is it possible to at least change Chrome/Firefox ports via CLI to an arbitrary port?

Indeed. There is some downright grotesque "malice" in Twitter cancel-culture efforts. It's really strange they are not self-aware and call 4chan (~last bastion of free speech) toxic.

Yeah, 4chan is toxic and savage, but at least they are honest and humane in a candid kind of way.

The cyber-bullying's of 4chan is trash though...

> Also the entire world would have reacted

Hard no. No one "reacted" after Hiroshima and Nagasaki were glassed.

Sorry, I confused Truman with Eisenhower. Still, I have a feeling I can find similar views even from him:

> In 1953, he considered using nuclear weapons to end the Korean War, and may have threatened China with nuclear attack if an armistice was not reached quickly.

> He supported regime-changing military coups in Iran and Guatemala orchestrated by his own administration

> He approved the Bay of Pigs invasion, which was left to John F. Kennedy to carry out.

Yeah, these are the parts conveniently ignored in almost all documentaries on this subject. There was also a legal dispute between Eckert-Mauchly and von Neumann about precedence of invention of early computer architectures.

Good thing there was a "steady hand" Eisenhower that green lit dropping of the bombs on general population, otherwise who could have known what kinds of justifications the japs academics would have come up with to wash out the atrocities of their imperial administration?

As always, history is written by the winners.

[Edit]: Confused Eisenhower with Truman

qersist3nce··on Using RSS to replace social media
Well, at least most of the blogs on self-hosted freedom-of-expression-respecting solutions I read over the net are written by boogeyman "alt-rights" and "4channers", unlike the so called "liberal" ilk that are bowing day and night to big media.

I have my criticisms on Luke Smith, but as a fellow man, I respect him.

nice honeypot ;)

(joking, thanks for the suggestion)

I've only heard good things about mullvad and their Wireguard-based VPN solution (...so long as random reddit comments and forum posts are to be trusted).

I wonder what 5/9/14 eyes actually do with the intercepted data? Isn't mere processing of the said data, a gargantuan task? Is this where Palantir comes to play or is it more like of a `cat atlantic_pipeline | grep bomb` thing?

The sudden "thing" that happened was Mongol Invasion[0].

Imagine Germany in 1945 losing the war, only having one major library, and the allies burn it down, decimate the population to 10% of the prior count[1], and throw the books down to Rhine River "...in such quantities that the river ran black with the ink from the books"[2].

The Mongols just invaded, pillaged and killed in a mind-less fashion. Middle-east was unlucky cause it was just geographically near them. They also wreaked havoc on China, Korea and Russia. Japan was lucky that storm sank their ships (which were forcibly built by conquered Chinese)

I have not studied al-Ghazali but I think the good'ol war had the major role in this decline and the current state of the middle east.
