pvilchez··on Uber S-1
I love starting there - this one is pages 25-72!
pvilchez··on Ask HN: Do you do any mentoring outside of work?
I think it does. I've sat in on mentorships for small businesses via the local Economic Development dept. at city hall.
pvilchez··on Ask HN: Do you do any mentoring outside of work?
The Canadian equivalent is http://ladieslearningcode.com/. It's a fun time, I try to do it if my free time lines up with a workshop.
pvilchez··on Ask HN: Mindfulness for Hackers
I don't think there's any field that requires a special approach to mindfulness, but it may be useful to people in those fields to have examples put in relatable contexts - that's why you'll see Mindfulness For Athletes/Executives/Etc... even if it kind of all boils down to common elements.
pvilchez··on Ionic Marketplace
Are you using Crosswalk for both iOS and Android, or just for Android? We've been using Ionic + Cordova with pretty good results on iOS so far, but we're starting to shift focus onto the Android offering.
pvilchez··on How Google Authorship decreased our traffic by 90%
This is exactly what I think every time I see it. And sometimes it does take me to a g+ page, so I've trained myself to just avoid it.
pvilchez··on App.net’s new direction
C10K is the problem of handling 10K clients simultaneously, I presume C1M is an extension of that.

pvilchez··on A New Look for Facebook
There's an 'Ads' list element on the left under 'Favourites'.

Which no one would ever click.

pvilchez··on Ask PG: 2012 Startup ideas you'd like to fund?
My friend had this idea earlier this year: http://letmereadthatforyou.com/.

I don't know what's come of it, or if he's even got any requests, heh.

pvilchez··on All Hacker Monthly issues free for next ~24 hours
015 is up now as well.
pvilchez··on You Can't Hack Photography
Regarding your last point, there's a series of videos on YouTube where pro photographers are challenged to take the best pictures they can with 'subpar/cheap' gear; the results are pretty incredible.

Here's the first in that series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUkKtkEZNjs

pvilchez··on Ask HN: What Mac Mini Configuration Would You Buy?
I'm curious what HN's opinion of the Mac Mini server is. $999, quad-core i7 and unlimited users.

pvilchez··on Why Twitter Should be Very Worried about Google+
I think this is the most likely. The top left of the google bar is +[name], and Andy Hertzfeld referenced other people in this way in his post: https://plus.google.com/117840649766034848455/posts/FddaP6je...
pvilchez··on First Night With Google Plus: This is Very Cool
Oddly enough, at the end of Pariser's TED talk, he called out facebook and Google to allow users to control what gets through their 'filter' and what doesn't. This is definitely bubble-ification, though at first glance it's the user who's in control of it.
pvilchez··on Why Game of Thrones is the best thing on television
Here is an interview I enjoyed with the director of the title sequence - it includes sketches and concept art.

pvilchez··on Show HN: HN Trends - like Google Trends, but for Hacker News
I searched for my own username expecting a flatline, but there were a few hits in the last few years. Flattering, but I'm fairly certain that hackers have not been talking about me. ;)

Perhaps you should only query titles and text, not usernames?

edit: for example, searching for pg would include his own submissions as well as mentions and Ask PG subs.

pvilchez··on Osama bin Laden Is Dead
In Stephen Harper (Canada's current prime minister)'s statement, he said that 'Canada receives this news with sober satisfaction.'
pvilchez··on OS X Day and Night Terminals
You can set it to transition over an hour, so it's a lot more subtle.
pvilchez··on 23-year-old donates US$1M to support Waterloo student entrepreneurs
I'm not a fan of trying to put spin on anything - when I submitted the story, the only edits I made to the original title were to satisfy HN's 80 character limit.
pvilchez··on Nerd Fort
There's a couple of coworking places in the Golden Triangle in Ontario that come to mind:

- http://treehaus.ca in Kitchener, I think they've been around a while;

- http://threefortynine.com, a new space starting up in Guelph

pvilchez··on Nerd Fort
The AC is more of an incubator - that is, they provide their residents with a lot of resources (business contacts, advisors, even training), whereas coworking places typically don't have the same connections.
pvilchez··on Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 source code leaked
I read it as 'downloading without consent', 'distributing without consent' or 'using it without consent'.
pvilchez··on RIM's claim against kik
53. As a result of the wrongful acts of the Defendant, as described herein, RIM has suffered and will continue to suffer serious and irreparable harm, as well as serious and substantial damages.

While I think it's fair that RIM protect its BBM patents, I think that Kik has brought more interest to BlackBerry than anything else in recent memory.

Most people I know are behind Kik, some going as far as to say that they won't ever purchase a RIM product (again). So in that sense, RIM's actions against Kik may bring themselves more harm in the end.

pvilchez··on The Next Big Thing
If I'm reading this correctly, the implication is that social and mobile applications have been (or will soon be) exhausted. I disagree, I think there's a lot of space left for innovation, though it will be hard to displace entrenched companies at this point.

As far as the 'next big thing' goes, do you think that there is any space for a small hardware company anymore? You suggest that the next trend is new form-factors/hardware, and at this point, the companies that would do well at that are those with deep pockets for R&D.

pvilchez··on Nifty Freeway Interchange Design
The article ran in November of last year, so the interchange has (presumably) been used for half a year now. Surely Missouri's been collecting data about how the new system's been doing - I'd love to see it.
pvilchez··on Proofs without words
I also didn't realize MathOverflow existed. On a whim, I typed in physicsoverflow.net, and it turns out that exists as well (though not well populated at all).

I wonder what other overflows exist.
