Disregarding the letter of the law seems arbitrary and capricious.

Interestingly, in the US, the middle class only shrank because the upper class grew.
procgen··on 0% of the phrases of the original Wikipedia "Ship of Theseus" article remain
The ship is a pattern that persists in time.
procgen··on Factors that act(ed) as drag on the European tech/startup scene

And where does this leave Europe in the future?

procgen··on Factors that act(ed) as drag on the European tech/startup scene
I'd be interested to see a comparison of the median wealth by age bracket.

procgen··on Are the Americans Awake?
> It is generally accepted

Is it, though?

procgen··on Instead of your Life's Purpose (2021)
It has no inherent meaning. You can choose to play whatever part you like. But first you might try to figure out what this "you" is - is it a body, a mind? An infinite, underlying computational substrate? Maybe there are even multiple "yous".
procgen··on Steep enrollment declines in public education in major US cities
It would be better to make schools better. Most people cannot afford to homeschool their children.

We can do both.
procgen··on Why a European mobile operating system can’t challenge Android and iOS
> And well, there must be a number two after Silicon Valley. Who would you say that is?

The Northeast Corridor.

procgen··on Understanding ChatGPT
There's billions of years of compressed knowledge in those 4 year olds. Lots of useful priors.
procgen··on ChatGPT for Robotics
Might be that's what we're doing, too.
procgen··on U.S. food additives banned in Europe
It sounds like it's an open question whether or not it is in fact carcinogenic when consumed in the quantities allowed by the FDA.
procgen··on The last artificial flower factory in NYC crafts designs for celebrities [video]
Good on them for seemingly treating their employees well, some of whom have stuck around for decades.
procgen··on Apple reportedly shelved its plans to release AR glasses any time soon
These are distinct from the AR goggles which they are expected to announce before the developers conference.
procgen··on Handwritten complaint to the court by alleged CIA Vault 7 leaker
Espionage makes the world more predictable, and hence less dangerous.
procgen··on Apple now valued at more than Amazon, Alphabet and Meta combined
It will be interesting to see their mixed reality device/OS - they should be announcing it sometime next year. I'm hoping that at the very least it can serve as a proper monitor replacement.
procgen··on Tesla to Cut 10% of Jobs
Is remote work hammering the economy? What effect does it actually have on productivity?
procgen··on Russia's economy is back on its feet
Please do!
procgen··on Canadians consider certain religions damaging to society: survey
> Religion enters almost every conversation I have in the US in some way.

I'm an American and this is very surprising to me. In fact, I find it difficult to believe. Can you give some examples?

procgen··on What Is at Stake in Ukraine
If you had told me two months ago that the Russian navy would be so incompetent as to lose their flagship to the bottom of the Black Sea, I would not have believed you. Now it seems that further humiliations are not only possible, but probable.
procgen··on FBI arrests 75-year-old for allegedly placing pipe bombs outside phone stores
> convincing someone with disaffected sentiments to "take action"

It's good that the FBI got to them before someone with 'legit' bombs did.

procgen··on Faroe Islands: Anger over killing of 1,400 dolphins in one day
The problem is the same one posed by the consumption of pigs: needless suffering.
procgen··on Xi Jinping’s Capitalist Smackdown Sparks a $1T Reckoning
> I can see why hackernews was (is?) banned in china. You guys see nothing but negatives in any policy decision that comes out of there.

The idea that a site should be banned because its users 'see nothing but negatives' is repugnant.

procgen··on Org-roam-UI – graphical front end for exploring your org-roam Zettelkasten
Logseq might fit the bill: https://logseq.com/ I've been using it for a few weeks now after switching over from Roam and it's been great. Everything is plaintext (I use it in markdown mode, but they support org-mode).
procgen··on Fractons, the ‘weirdest’ matter, could yield quantum clues
A 'crystal with defects' sounds like a graph to me, but I'm only a dilettante.
procgen··on Fractons, the ‘weirdest’ matter, could yield quantum clues
...and I just read your bio - ha!
procgen··on Fractons, the ‘weirdest’ matter, could yield quantum clues
This this is the approach that Stephen Wolfram's physics project is exploring. In their model, everything is made of space, and space is a hypergraph.
