pratap103··on MIT Course: Generative AI for Constructive Communication
Doesn't look like it but the slides and recommended reading are posted and should be able to give you some color.
pratap103··on Why I built a dictionary app
I'm reading 'Love in the Time of Cholera' atm and was literally too afraid to look up words for fear of distraction. I can't wait to use flashcards! A favorites section might be a cool feature - for words you want to start working into conversations
pratap103··on What are the fringes of technology today?
AR/VR, ML, Deep Learning, Blockchain, Voice & NLP (next platform?)
pratap103··on We Created a Planning Diary Making $160K in 6 Months
I checked it out, have you considered doing something similar to a diary? To keep aspiring musicians on track with practice, theory, performing etc. I play guitar and find it difficult to commit time to practice and improve. Would love a planner/diary that could help me do that.
pratap103··on Anxiety Looks Different in Men
Has anyone experienced their anxiety symptoms flare up after a strenuous workout? I know this seems fairly obvious, but I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this.
pratap103··on Anxiety Looks Different in Men
I had a really rough month where my 2yo was jet lagged and waking up crying multiple times a night. After that I've had two months of anxiety on and off, this is really helpful. Have always suspected that sleep could have been the trigger but didn't realize that an hour a night could make such a huge difference. Cheers!
pratap103··on Vinod Khosla: The consequences of AI in the next 5-10 years [video]
A conversation based on excerpts of his 2017 essay on AI, that raises important socio-economic and philosophical questions about the future of humanity and AI.
pratap103··on Boeing's software fix for the 737 Max overwhelms the plane's computer
Was really curious as to what Airbus was using, thanks for this! Why not just use the latest CPUs though? I can't imagine the cost would be relatively significant in the greater scheme of things. Are the legacy CPU's really better for this use-case?
pratap103··on Boeing's software fix for the 737 Max overwhelms the plane's computer
Or admit it's a hardware and aircraft design problem and go through the exponentially more expensive process of fixing it.
pratap103··on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are struggling to stay online today
Yup, sorry only realized after the fact :|
pratap103··on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp outages
Yup, seems like it. This is second time in a couple of months that they've been down.
pratap103··on Peter Thiel – American Democracy March 14, 2019 Lecture Video & Transcript
Credit to Garry Tan! Thanks for posting it on Twitter, thought I should share it on HN
pratap103··on Antarctica’s potential collapse could damage coastal cities across the globe
Looks great on mobile too! Kudos to Paul Graham for tweeting this out.
pratap103··on Patrick Winston Explains Deep Learning
Thanks a lot! Been a while since I took calculus
pratap103··on Patrick Winston Explains Deep Learning
One of the prerequisites is differential calculus, please suggest some good resources to learn from!
pratap103··on The Uber Bombshell About to Drop
Prime candidates for sure but I don't know about prime position as they clearly had a lot of ground to make up on the tech. I agree with you on the hyper-aggressive business tactics, I bet there was an Aha! moment where they were like..wait, what if we get rid of the drivers?!
pratap103··on CS 20SI: Tensorflow for Deep Learning Research
Thanks a lot! I've been looking for something like this.
pratap103··on What is the best cryptocurrency to mine and why?
I've found lots of similar conflicting data. Seems to be a lot of misinformation and scams out there. I might start mining a bit as a hobby just to learn more about cryptocurrency because it seems like the only way to really profit would be to buy, either way you're hoping it's going to become more valuable.
pratap103··on Ask HN: How would you turn Twitter around?
"Refocus the company to be the Netflix of live TV, focusing on the delivery of live sports and news broadcasts while enabling fans/viewers to discuss in real time." I didn't feel like their experiments in live broadcasting NFL games drew a large audience last year. I think twitter offers sports fans a solid mobile experience(checking real-time reactions from other athletes and sports fans) while watching the game on a big screen HDTV. The biggest sports and political events are also social in nature, most of the time you're watching in a group of people. How do you get a group of people to watch a sports/political event on twitter and discuss in real-time? I agree that Twitter's modern day utility lies here but the switching costs for the user have to be reduced.
pratap103··on What are the best resources for studying AI/Machine Learning?
Appreciate it!
pratap103··on Oxford Deep NLP – An advanced course on natural language processing
I'm reading 'Deep Learning' right now so this is going to be really useful. Thanks a lot!
pratap103··on Is Spotify Going Bankrupt in 2017? Wall Street Delivers Another Red Flag
If they don't manage to reneg their deals with the big three, bankruptcy is certainly foreseeable. 70% percent royalties not including tax and overheads on a subscription model leaves no room for a profitable model. It's a shame because it really is the best service out there in my opinion.
pratap103··on Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Leaving Trump Advisory
I think the damage might already be done, the only move if you ask me. They might be making some charitable donations in the days to come..
pratap103··on How to start a startup without ruining your life
Yeah, thanks for sharing!
pratap103··on Tesla Model S: the story of a very short happiness and excitement
Tesla is going to offer the model 3 in a number of developing countries, where customer service will present an even bigger challenge.
pratap103··on LibreTaxi – A free and open source alternative to Uber and Lyft
Passenger pick-up won't be as efficient. I'm assuming drivers will not be able to renegotiate their fare if they have to wait.
pratap103··on Land Speed Record Broken, Now 402MPH
Great respect for anyone who follows their dreams despite financial obstacles. Even more impressive when the the dream doesn't necessarily come with financial reward.
