prashp··on Claude thinks it's a tumor, radiologists disagree
Claude isn't an approved medical device so why is willing to provide a diagnosis?
prashp··on Rapier is a set of 2D and 3D physics engines written in Rust
The demos don't work on Firefox 123.0 for me
prashp··on Niagara Launcher
Niagara Launcher is broken on my S10+. The apps don't align to the left correctly, sometimes I get two columns of apps instead of one, sometimes the text and icons are incredibly small and difficult to read. I had to cancel my subscription
prashp··on The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Emacs
Thanks - appreciate this
prashp··on The VAE Used for Stable Diffusion Is Flawed
Emad (StabilityAI founder) posted on the reddit thread:

"Nice post, you'd be surprised at the number of errors like this that pop up and persist.

This is one reason we have multiple teams working on stuff..

But you still get them"

prashp··on The VAE Used for Stable Diffusion Is Flawed
The image compression model used in SD is not evenly (in a spatial sense) compressing the images
prashp··on Winlator: Android app that lets you to run Windows apps with Wine
Or steroids for ants
prashp··on GPT Medical Assistant
The response to all questions should be: "go to your family doctor or emergency room if you are not comfortable" This is not a medic device and cannot be trusted more than a Google search of your symptoms
prashp··on How Jensen Huang's Nvidia is powering the A.I. revolution
Better to showsight
prashp··on Is supervised learning dead for computer vision?
I think your question should be "Will pretrained generative models replace training application-specific models from scratch?" instead of your focus on supervised learning.

The model you mentioned use supervised learning, and fine tuning also requires supervised learning (i.e. the text captions associated with the images).

prashp··on New devices could change the way we measure blood pressure
Cool to read this article! 7 years ago I completed my MEng thesis on cuffless blood presurement using an ultrasound transducer measuring the response of injectable microbubbles. I don't believe it went anywhere but it was a very enjoyable research project that made me want to do a PhD.
prashp··on Ask HN: How do your ML teams version datasets and models?

prashp··on Show HN: Generative Fill with AI and 3D
Nice! Like your landing page.

How well does it work on non-room images?

prashp··on Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 Update Feels Like a Different Game
We will see. Despite all the updates, for CP77 I found both the story (main and side quests) and the combat to be disappointing and shallow. It felt like a chore to play
prashp··on MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD: A randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial
But also

> Seven participants had a severe treatment emergent adverse event (TEAE) (MDMA-AT, n = 5 (9.4%); placebo with therapy, n = 2 (3.9%)).

prashp··on Photogrammetry on commercial flights (2021)
This is very cool! How feasible would it be to take a video instead of a photo, then using landmark detection and a stitching algorithm such as SIFT to cover a larger surveying area?
prashp··on Doctor GPT: A Large Language Model That Can Pass the US Medical Licensing Exam
Are we all aware that the repository owner is Siraj Raval? The guy infamous for claiming others' work as his own? I think the ML community disowned this guy a long time ago for peddling snake oil
prashp··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
Having a couple of ML papers on its own is not sufficient, as per the eligibility criteria (https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-2-part-m-chapter-...)
prashp··on A ‘ChatGPT’ for satellite photos already exists
Yet another article written about images and visualizations without including any images and visualizations of the images and visualizations.
prashp··on Beware the Man of Many Studies
Yes - regulation is not the same as better support for the healthcare system and I am surprised you do not get that distinction. Regulation is about putting rules into place to prevent fraud, malpractice and anything where the clinician may abuse the system to the detriment of patients or other healthcare professionals around them. In addition to regulation, the government should also support the healthcare system through better funding and (patient and clinical) education. It can be true that both more regulation and better support are needed.

To say there is no power dynamic between patient and doctor is wildly ignorant. There obviously is one, even if the patient is not paying the doctor directly for their services. Not sure when (if?) you went to medical school, but this is taught to all medical graduates. The field of medical ethics exists for a reason.

prashp··on Beware the Man of Many Studies
Of course if you ask a clincian if they should be regulated more, they will say no. The fewer stakeholders involved in the relationship between patient and doctor, the more power the doctor has. The truth is there should be others involved, at the very least the government health agencies.
prashp··on Beware the Man of Many Studies
Maybe we should regulate clinicians more so they don't change their practice as they please and so that healthcare is standardized across the country?
prashp··on Apple Vision predictive bio-feedback
Maybe he was fired in 2021 for being too modest.
prashp··on Times New Bastard
Wtf
prashp··on 916 Days of Emacs
That's the thing, he doesn't
prashp··on A trick to reaching flow: Leave your work broken
This is good general advice, but there are situations where it doesn't always work. Sometimes I've come back the next day, finished the thing I was working on within 1 hour and then I get stuck for the rest of the day trying but failing to be productive. Maybe it would have been better to finish the day before and taken the next day off?
prashp··on Ask HN: What lesser-known accessories do you use with your computer?
Maybe one is a decoy for the cat
prashp··on How to draw dotted lines on chalkboards, MIT style (2021)
I was in a school in the UK during the 00s and I have OK memories. It had Latin in the curriculum, so I think we can conclude Latin does not correlate with fondness of memories.

The teachers used annoying 'SMART' boards and if they ever got board marker ink on them they would freak out.

prashp··on Blender Graphics: Lenses and Optics
My understanding is that Cycles comes packaged with Blender - unlike luxcore
prashp··on Blender Graphics: Lenses and Optics
I found this great resource for creating lenses and optical systems from scratch in Blender - I thought the HN community would find it useful.
