prando··on Advanced Compilers: Self-Guided Online Course
Has anyone taken Compilers course from David Beazley: https://www.dabeaz.com/compiler.html. I'd love to hear your feedback, please
prando··on Three spacecraft heading to Mars this summer
I am curious to know this - how do various nations/ space programs ensure that the objectives of their missions are significantly different that they don't end up repeating the work/ results of other missions (from other nations)? Do all space agencies work together to determine what the focus would be (I guess not, but it'd be cool, if it were like that)!
prando··on Ask HN: What collaborative whiteboard are you using?
One of the main criteria for a whiteboard is to use it with a stylus - so I purchased https://air.bar/ to turn my non-touch-screen laptop into a touch-screen-one. However, its latency is not low enough to provide a smooth experience. Does anyone know of a good digital pen that plays well with Win 10. I suspect our company policies won't allow me to share screen via an iPad.
prando··on John Carmack: I’m going to work on artificial general intelligence
I am reminded of his programming retreat :). https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2110408722...
prando··on Ask HN: How do you design UI applications?
Thanks much for your kind reply. The first link has a lot of guiding philosophy despite it being attached to Apple, I will try incorporating this. I am a FW developer and when I developed this GUI and put it in few users' hands, I realized how counterintuitive something can be in terms of usability.
prando··on Black soldier fly maggots: high in protein with a small carbon footprint
I found this nifty video that explains the operation of such a facility in Indonesia! Cool stuff! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M6u9ZX5ecE
prando··on Ask HN: Would you recommend buying a Tesla now?
Thanks much for your kind response. I am planning to test drive this week and probably request for a couple of weeks of usage. I want to get a hang of how I would work my schedule around the charging needs of the car. Will try the reddit too. Thanks again :)
prando··on Ask HN: Any embedded devs/hardware folks looking for a side project?
Hi! I can do Firmware. Let's chat. Any preferred means of communications?
prando··on The Tech Behind SpaceX’s New Engine
https://www.netflix.com/title/80119093 My rocket-science knowledge is abysmal, but I thoroughly enjoyed this article and the Netflix documentary that I have linked to was incredible. Anyone even remotely interested in rockets should check it out :).
prando··on Show HN: Self-Driving Pi Car
Cool stuff! Do you have plans to expand this further? Would you accept pull requests? :)
prando··on Ask HN: Best way to learn modern C++?
I usually get bogged down by the syntax of very many complex things that gets me lose the focus on the motive of the code. I wish we had an efficient way to learn what a declaration means. (On the lines of cdecl)
prando··on Ask HN: How to learn Computer Algorithms for an electrical engineer?
Thanks much for the posts. Skiena looks fantastic.
prando··on Show HN: An attempt to rethink a music sequencer design
Beautiful UI. Despite what others might comment about its utility and relevance, I see this as a very interesting project to learn audio processing & clean UI design. Please let us know your background. Are you an audio DSP engineer? Is there a list of features that you are planning to integrate?

Kudos!

prando··on Think OS: A Brief Introduction to Operating Systems
Try this too: http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~remzi/OSTEP/. OS - Three Easy Pieces. It has the right mix of text and relevant code to drive down the concepts.
prando··on Ask HN: What is the right way to self-learn Machine learning?
I'd greatly appreciate any good recommendations for text/ videos on statistics.
prando··on DuckDuckGo ES6 Cheatsheet
VIM cheatsheet! Sweet.. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=vim+cheatsheet&ia=answer&iax=1 duckduckgo simply gets better everytime and I've made it my default search engine. And like someone mentioned, if I find the results inadequate, I just !g it.
