pq129··on A disturbing thought. A world where the marginal cost of software is free
To me, the things we need/want being free is a massive positive, not a negative at all. Wouldn't you rather all your expenses were reduced and your needs were met more precisely, than that you had persistent unnecessary expenses?

I understand how as someone wishing to make money this may be undesirable. But I think it is worth considering the bigger picture of what a high-cost life vs a low-cost life looks like for us as individuals, and as a society.

pq129··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
I see a big difference between AI people choose to use themselves (eg ChatGPT), and AI people are forced to use (whether unhelpful customer-service bots, or LLMs attempting to cover up for poor user interface design).
pq129··on Google Made a Sad Boomer Mark Out of Me and There's Nothing I Can Do About It
It is sad that this person got scammed, and there are a lot of legitimate comments in this article. But I have to admit that at first I thought the "scam" was going to be that these $200 smart smoke alarms aren't a real product. Certainly for me, the risks of adding such complexity to such an important product are not worth it, especially at 10x the cost.
pq129··on Wiki Race Against AI
A fun game! I'm not convinced the AI took a particularly sensible path. It would be interesting to see how well different prompts/models succeed at this task.
pq129··on I Let Agents Run a Retail Store. Here Is What Happened
Very interesting. What I'd really love to see (though perhaps it is too soon to say) is whether these items actually sell. That is, is the output actually something people want to buy?
