ppalata··on People who can't picture anything are rewriting the science of imagination
I can't visualise things either and this is a task that my brain just solves for me analytically somehow. In this case I had to re-read it a few times and then knew the answer. I struggle with visual navigation but my brain compensates this with intuition (or whatever we want to call it) so I never really got lost but I'm unable to guide other people because that usually requires visual imagination (map, landmarks etc.)

> Then they'll be indistinguishable from the text of the AI but still separate. Then they'll start folding it in to the AI prompts. Then they'll start folding it in at the training phase so the weights themselves drive you towards Thinking Ford First, this step being inevitable because it almost certainly will be by far the most effective of all of these techniques. Opus 7.2 Brought To You By Mountain Dew. Just a coincidence that every time you ask it to build an authorization system it writes code to ensure that the user has drunk a verification can, and is just incompetent at removing that code for some reason.

I know close to nothing about the US regulation in this space but at least in Europe, when you pay for advertisement, it has to be always clearly communicated to the user. Are you assuming that they will just ignore the law in such a blatant way?

This is not meant to be tongue in cheek comment but has anybody figured out how the companies manage the "everyone is going to be replaced in a year" rhetoric while also working hard on ads that are clearly designed for humans to consume?
ppalata··on Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework
The "blog" says that it's just holding cash or am I misunderstanding something? Judging by the "buying power" number, you allow it to use 4x leverage against the cash it has? That seems dangerous unless you are fine with losing 380k+.
ppalata··on Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework
This would be nice if it was supported by some hard data. But even if it was, one year is too short of a timeline to make any kind of reasonable conclusions about its efficacy.

Buying stock based on coin flips can beat indexes short term too, that does not mean it is a better strategy or that it works over the long term.

ppalata··on AI Cold Showers
The last part about AI note takers is interesting because I agree with the general sentiment of the article, especially the reading/writing part. That said, the AI notetaker usually allowed me to focus on the person I was talking to so this was something where I always saw great value even if taking my notes might have yielded slightly better results.
ppalata··on Don't Paste the AI, please
This does feel like responding to rudeness with more rudeness. My personal guess would be that people who do this (pasting AI responses) know what they are doing, not genuinely trying to help. It's the equivalent of sending LMGTFY.

When you say rest of the world, what countries exactly do you mean? I'm from the Czech Republic and the process is also insurmountable for a regular company. You either go through a middleman or you can apply for a license (only 4 companies in the entire country ever got it and it costs upwards of $50k in legal fees just to file the application).
ppalata··on The Religion of Speed
Depends on the organisation as I've seen the opposite (excessive planning without taking action) too. I'm on the speed side of things nowadays because I was usually wrong when I thought that the "work is understood and the constraints are clear".
ppalata··on No news is good news
I would really like to follow this advice and stop reading news completely. But I like talking to people and generally, news is among the most commonly discussed topics. Furthermore, it helps me evaluate if I have similar opinions to the person I'm talking to (and thus the conversation is likely to continue someday). The article doesn't mention how to fulfil this need and it seems that I would become isolated if I decided to really follow it. I agree with the assessment but I don't know how to fix the problem I've mentioned.
ppalata··on Ask HN: How can I read faster?
As others have already pointed out, reading faster doesn't necessarily translate into more efficient information processing or faster learning. If your end goal is to learn faster, I had a fairly good experience when applying techniques outlined in the Learning How to Learn book/e-learning course.

I'm an experienced iOS developer (native apps) with over 6 years of commercial experience. I also did some small contracting gigs in Ruby on Rails few years ago. I don't mind working with a time shift (US timezones).
