Mazars is 5th in Europe, 24 400 employees and it makes ~2 bilions in turnover.

this above comment is not bringing much value to the discussion I think.

cold boot time is such a strange metric for an IDE. Do you spend your days closing and restarting yours ?

Hot reloading could be a better metric maybe ?

then time is your limited resource. You should count 1 non dev for each dev, at least. Most organization have much more non-dev than dev. So if you work 2 jobs, you can't even dream about hiring/working with a single dev.

one still throws away the soaking liquid when retrieving aquafaba, afaik. It's the cooking water that becomes aquafaba.

"cooking primarily as a means of getting nutrients rather than a hobby" is such a strange opposition to me.

what is lacking in your view is empathy. It seems you don't understand what it is to be the victim, for no good damn fault of you. Moreover in your 'solution', once the videos have leaked on-line to fulfil the ex-lover revenge, it will never be taken out. Fast forward 10 years later, the ex-lover has served its sentence, the victim moved to another place, another job, every thing is forgotten. At their work, they got into a heated debate about any topic. The adversarial debater, seeing red, searched the web, find the video and broadcast to everybody. There might be regrets the second after sending, but it's too late, *once again*

It's not about people being dicks it's about information as weapons laying around forever.

Humans have built-in forgetness but modern days tech does not. Since we are evolving at nature rate, technology must be rein in from time to time.

the time line in the first day of commits is incredibly tight. Later commits frequency looks more on par with what I would expect. But many people don't commit for a while before their code starts working.

I am glad I will able to put to rest this common misconception about nuclear power ramping up speed. While it's a common rebuttal argument against nuclear, it's rather incorrect since nuclear power is actually able to ramp up fast enough. Moreover, French nuclear stations are typically older than they should and newer ones could move even faster. But better than Germany's

Anyway, enough empty talk and here is a real world use case from West Europe the 19th of march 2019, lots of wind a sunday. I should translate the whole thing for everyone one day.

poutrathor··on Select a muscle and it provides the exercises to workout the selected muscle
Hello, I saw you use Google traduction for providing non English support. Please drop the feature. It made non sense for French right off the bat :

> There is far more to the trapezius muscle than meets the eye. The traps are not just the muscle that sits on top of your shoulders.

> Il y a bien plus dans le muscle trapèze qu'il n'y paraît. Les pièges ne sont pas seulement le muscle qui repose sur vos épaules.

You could also use more medical terms all the time since Google autotrad seems to handle them better

Definitively a local issue between the chair and the computer.

The whole developers world would be up in arms if Git actually crashed in 1 out of 30 commands on Windows, _whatever the configuration, git bash, powershell, or WSL 1/2_. There would be yearly top hacker news post about "one year and still not fixed"

Heck, Git would not have reached its dominant position if it was such a buggy mess.

> It's strange for Americans to be on the business side of a propaganda weapon, as we're more used to using against our enemies.

Funny that no top replies pounced on that starting axiom. USA have been widely known as a propaganda massive producer firstly toward its own citizens, even today. From military cult, pledge at schools, commies witch hunting and globalisation hammering, and of course, all your religions and sub-religions, you all have been living and keep living inside daily propaganda.

In French, passive voice is used to redirect the spotlight on meaningful bits.

In their example & imho, "Phrases in green have been marked to show passive voice." communicates their intent better than "We marked in green phrase using passive voice". The 'we' is useless.

That's not true as far as I know. I think we see color only in the middle of our focal and our brain merely remember colors for the periphery.

Have you actually listen to nowadays comedians ? It _is_ one joke/sentence nowadays (at least in my country).

More exactly, they separate each sentence. Each has a tiny bit of funny in it (in the words, in the way they say it, because they stay in character, whatever) and they let audience lol. Rinse and repeat.
