I really wonder how you can face your fired employes and tell them that all their stocks are gone but that they can do some consulting do get those back.

I really wonder how you can face your fired employes and tell them that all their stocks are gone but that they can do some consulting do get those back.
It seems to me you are really looking at not having those users that was on the site for a long time, it's not like digg and facebook really goes hand to hand together...
I also really don't understand what was the decision behind breaking all older stories, it seems ludicrous they do not take advantage of that.
Even worse you now have to login with facebook! they did not bring back the old accounts, this seems like a very frustrating issue. Unless they want a completely new userbase...
I think they just threw the last remaining digger to reddit.
Being a freelancer you get 2 big advantages, you can choose when you take holidays, and you can choose what project you want to work on (it seems to me you failed at taking advantages of either one). Maybe you should have been more direct and say I'm going to take a week off and your project will wait.
What you describe look to me as a typical inexperienced freelancer (don't take it the wrong way, we are all inexperienced when we start) agreeing on deadlines that can't be done, without a good team, and without taking the steps to get a better communication around this company, (your were the lead if I am not mistaken).
You have a lot to think about, a lot to learn from it, try to think at each point of failure and what you would have do different!
But I will agree with the some of the guys here, since this post clearly put you in a bad light, I would not have post it, I would personally remove it.
That being said an interesting article on a interesting html5 game.
My designer friend took the jQuery Air course and found it PERFECT. It gave him a lot of cues that it would not have understood without it.
I'm not quite sure what exactly your problems were with it, but you seems quite bitchy for nothing
Frankly, I don't think so, and that's probably the problem.
I could be wrong but most companies management that got a baked CMS think they got the most powerful, frikking awesome, and it general it's just a soup of unmanageable legacy code.
Of course there is a lot of other problems that could spring like a bad sales teams, but if the platform awesome ido not see why it should not be striving since it has been online for so long.
Obviously that goes against google ads rules and you don't want your company ban from there if you are legit (gotomeeting seems to be)
Think I need a more underground source of articles now, nothing interesting in that article beside some irks about publishing "worthless" scientific paper
Comic Sans is grotesque and was badly designed from the start. One has to wonder why it was popular, i'm sure there is a ton of article about that (surely the author should have deepen a bit in the subject and check that),
But if I would have to guess, in the 2000 debut it was one of the widely available fonts that had a different (poor) look.
Lobster is NOTHING like comic sans, it's a good font unfortunately overused. That's it.
Not only that, the intern will have to learn a lot of things he did not learn at school because it's not the market reality.
If they did a good job they generally get a nice gift (like an ipad) and sometimes a job.
Granted we have no Harvard around, i guess it could be different but, I don't think unpaid intern are dramatic at all, rarely an intern can do as well a job that even a 2 years experienced guy does.
Unfortunately I cannot downvote!
Anyway, if you have been working with html&css for more than 1 or 2 years it should not be hard to at least degrade gracefully on ie8+.
Personally I don't even think it is a choice, ie is still 30% of world average, supporting it is a must.
Then I agree with you, web publishing did not change that much, 3 years ago it was a bunch of js plugins together + nice html templates and well, it is still that currently. And I know loads of front-end that only know basic js with a svn client and get by.
Then you got js web apps. There you got a world of difference. It is limitless and evolving like crazy
You can try to reason with people or you can just have a bad attitude and smack them and hope the other will bow.
Give me a break with supercharging photoshop on ipad..
It kind of does not change anything, maybe it makes a big change in games for antialiasing, but that's it. It remains ti be seen if it will really improve reading on the device
Anyway..
I surely missed something I guess. I think it's a shame we are not going to have flash on android tablets, it's somewhere it could have perform well.
His company requirements outgrew Wordpress, its how you can resume that big article.. I also don't understand his 'windows' problems? I guess he is talking about ie7 and less, and well in a beta you can expect problems with legacy.
Your a real wp dev? well you know where to draw the line where wordpress becomes a drag, and act consequently, that does not mean removing it entirely from your stack, that just mean using something more custom when the situation arise.
I'm sorry but 3/4 of the world web agencies can't create a better user experience as far as the administration panel is concern.. It's the best bang for buck for simple content and blog websites.
Maybe this guy just got the wrong people around him too..
This is the kind of stuff where you need a price that does not "matter" on the wallet. Amazon and publishers are just too much greedy, the authors does not really make more money with that kind of pricing, it's still just the big guys that make(want) more money.
That is not to say that you can't do a good native augmentation, but they certainly did not at first.
but in my experience, the technical debt will be a big problem later on, if not a total deal breaker. This is a problem found a lot in html integration, and jQuery new comer that push one millions of events in the dom.ready
Unmaintainable mess = hours and hours of lost work
I find that the easiest and cleanest solution is generally the better, I always try to not over engineer my code.
Would this not be the same in any industry or even worse?
We are probably the most vocal community and thus generating more conversations about it, but I don't see a lot of women in the construction fields, and I can picture them having a pretty bad experience there. What about any industry where the boss is a jerk that want to get laid?
I'm kind of joining some of you guys in wondering what the movements about getting more women involved in tech is about, I don't really think it needs more or less,
Like probably no one would start a movement to get more guys in a predominant women profession? frankly who cares?
There are better ways to "hack" a company that spoofing their websites analytic lol, people that got that large number of ips have better (worst) things to do than that..
Also how the f would you know they are ab testing something..
Not sure if textmate2 is too late, but it certainly feel like it is, I do not see myself going back there.
I'm pretty sure 20 years old and less people really don't care about their timeline privacy and if they do, they can easily change that.
People that "care" about those issues are 25+ tech people, my mom do not care, and teens in my family reallly do not care
the new facebook features prove that facebook is really moving forward in the 'social' space and are succeeding. Google+ a threat? I don't think so, maybe for the old facebook, but not this.. I can already see all new moms going crazy about that timeline feature.
It's boring to see so much articles about how bad 'privacy' is, how creepy facebook is and etc. Seriously anyone can see that.. there is privacy if you look for it, if you don't it simply to assume that you want your profile public..
