popohauer··on I organized a 20-acre game of Capture the Flag
This would be incredible. Back in high school we would play this in a friends backyard. His parents had around 10 acres of woods, creek, and open field. Would be amazing to have an organized event with so many players like this.
popohauer··on Nightshade: An offensive tool for artists against AI art generators
Oh, interesting, I didn't realize that's how it worked. Thanks for the additional context around this. Guess it's not as upending as I thought it could be.
popohauer··on Tesla Employees Using Vehicle Cameras to Spy on 'Private Scenes;' Owners Suing (2023)

popohauer··on Nightshade: An offensive tool for artists against AI art generators
It's going to be interesting to see how the lawsuits against OpenAI by content creators plays out. If the courts rule that AI generated content is a derivative work of all the content it was trained on it could really flip the entire gen AI movement on its head.
popohauer··on Nightshade: An offensive tool for artists against AI art generators
I'm glad to see tools like Nightshade starting to pop up to protect the real life creativity of artists. I like AI art, but I do feel conflicted about its potential long term effects towards a society that no longer values authentic creativity.
popohauer··on Hans Reiser on ReiserFS deprecation in the Linux kernel
This is why I always say the best software developers are the ones who work well with others and have a low KDR IRL.
popohauer··on Show HN: I made a site to simplify recommending talented people to others
As a founder with a long history as a PM, I would try to narrow in on one really specific use case that is valuable enough for someone to (eventually) shell out $18/month to solve. Reading over the site, it's not immediately clear to me who really needs this service, what problem they have, and why they would sign up.
