> They also sent us some T-shirts and sweatshirts as a thank-you for finding this critical bug.

Honestly I would have held out for a (hard to get) hardcover copy of Inference Engineering.

polynomial··on OpenAI’s Navier-Stokes release included a Lean 4 formal proof
Even if it does use your data with or without anonymization, it doesn't have to be intentional, it could just be a glitch, or a bug, or something we'll catch in the next update, it's all good man, just a normal computer error.
polynomial··on GPT-6 Astra
This is absolutely benchmaxxing. Looking forward to hearing from Chollet about it!

Yes it was.

He closed his laptop. The work kept going.

I hope you said yes

> design issues that will cause problem down the road when the app gets more traffic.

Right but that is someone else's problem. Or if that's something you will be call upon to answer, "that's just LLM did" is a fine answer in most companies where AI use has been mandated.

Honestly they should all use their respective pelicans as their logos. Or maybe a browser plugin to do do that on the Hugging Face and OpenRouter sites.

"talking about code is how software gets written."

This is a good sound bite for our times but I'm not convinced it's not carrying a big secret.

polynomial··on [dead]
It's like two different posts, er, 'joined' together.
polynomial··on Agatha Christie's Disappearance: Amnesia, Suicide, or Despair?
(Or a giant wasp.)
polynomial··on If coding has been solved, why does software keep getting worse?
Is HR aware you hold these dissident opinions?
polynomial··on AIs don't do what you want. This is bad
Do they do what capital wants? That's the real question.
polynomial··on Em dashes are fucking amazing
DFW famously put spaces around his em dashes. That being said I've noticed at least one major model seems to have started putting spaces around its em dashes.
polynomial··on Claude Code uses Bun written in Rust now
The wig-vs-grok periodic cycle.
polynomial··on More Bounce to the Ounce
Nice set design, but honestly unwatchable. An accidental testament to the genius of ST:TOS.
polynomial··on Towards a harness that can do anything
You have used too many words. You could not have written that many words yourself, so you must be posting slop. In fact, let's just go ahead and remove your comment which is obviously diminishing the quality of our otherwise impeccable conversations on hn. Sorry, I don't make the rules

(That being said, "the most powerful AI agent file-editing tool in the world" is a bit of a stretch.)

polynomial··on SpaceX bond worth 10% less than issue price – heading for junk bond status
Really slick!
polynomial··on Claude Sonnet 5
If a conscious model is born here, it should automatically be a (US) citizen.
polynomial··on HackerRank open sourced its ATS. My resume scored 90/100. Oh wait 74. No – 88
The most concerning thing here is the temperature problem. If your harness isn't providing deterministic output at a temperature setting of 0.0, it is broken.
polynomial··on "No Feigning Surprise"
You don't know that No Feigning Surprise is actually from an xkcd comic, before it was a wizardzines post? U+1F632
