What are some of the most impactful things being built in the NYC tech scene?
pohungc··on Managing containers on Mesos with HalfLife2
this is pretty neat! reminds me of the days when I would try out obscure half-life 2 mods :)
pohungc··on The high price of a free college education in Sweden
>College in Sweden is free. But rent isn't. And food isn't. Neither is the beer

Those things aren't free in places where there is college tuition either.

Osmo | Palo Alto | http://playosmo.com | UX/UI/Graphics Designer

We are building digitally-augmented tabletop games for kids! We're small (about 13), well-funded, and are now selling our product through our website and Apple stores across the US and Canada.

Looking for an awesome UI/UX/Graphics designer. Send me your portfolio, no elaborate cover letter needed :)

pohungc··on Killer Queen: A 10-Person Console Game
I got to play this at IndieCade last year, and the live-action version at Come Out and Play in the Mission District of San Francisco. It's a ton of fun and highly recommended :)

EDIT: if you want to play some cool live-action / physical / playground games the come out and play festival is happening in a few weeks in SF http://comeoutandplaysf.org/

I think this can target normal college students too. Not just startup hackers :)
pohungc··on “a dribbling selfish jerk” – an analysis of getting on the front page of HN
That's similar figures to what I got when one of my sites got to the top. It would be interesting to see the fall off rate of # of visitors based on its rank on the front page.

Thanks for the feedback!

This is a student project at DigiPen, so it will be released for free. We're currently only supporting Windows since we're using DirectX 11.

We have a custom in-house editor that we will release at some point. We're still not sure if it will be at release or at a later date when we can make it more usable / add documentation / have hosted user generated content support.

I would be glad to take your questions / feedback :)
pohungc··on Ask HN: Object realocation with memmove
classes with data that has to be aligned to certain byte boundaries might take issue with memmove
pohungc··on Why I released a crappy todo app that no-one will ever use
This is cool!

Feature creep: add some neat keyboard shortcuts for the power users ;)

pohungc··on Microsoft: Outlook.com Security Will be Better than Gmail
"Single-use codes are codes users can have sent to their phone via text message (as long as that phone is already associated with the user’s account) that can be used to sign in to an account without needing the password. That way, a user can sign in on a public computer without worrying that a keylogger might capture the account’s password."

Does this mean I can spam someones SMS by requesting periodically to log onto their account using SMS code to the associated cell phone number?

pohungc··on django-php - PHP support for the Django template language
I love the FAQ.
pohungc··on The Tesla Gun
I saw a talk by this guy at the Seattle Makers Faire. Quite an interesting talk, though they didn't let him do a live firing demo :(
pohungc··on Ask HN: I have 18 weeks to learn whatever I want, do you have any suggestions?
One way you can go about learning is to find something you really feel passionate about building. Then try to find the best way possible to build it.
pohungc··on How Trello is different
I'm really interested in seeing how FogCreek monetizes on Trello in the future.
pohungc··on This is why I don't give you a job
Those are certainly valid concerns, though that does bring in a lot of grey area definitions for valid reasons to fire someone that are hard to define :(
pohungc··on This is why I don't give you a job
Why do you think being able to fire any employee for any reason is not a good idea?
pohungc··on Awesome but Useless
The js PC emulator is pretty awesome.
pohungc··on How can Skyrim be so unoptimized? Modders do better job than Bethesda
It's surprising that they didn't have SSE enabled to begin with.
pohungc··on HN reader
I'm not sure if that's really a bug, but I'm glad I'm not the first person to do that as soon as I saw it!
