player1234··on AI has a cargo cult problem
It say something about how useful is it when it is not subsidiced.

The bubble exists be cause no AI company gets any profits and laughable revenue.

Is it 2000$/month useful is the interesting question.

player1234··on How the AI Bubble Will Pop
Fallacy: Appeal to authority.
player1234··on How the AI Bubble Will Pop
How did you measure this "a lot more of my time", please share your results and methodology!
player1234··on How the AI Bubble Will Pop
It is not worth it and it is not even that impressive considering the cost.

If you told me that you would spend half a trillion and the best minds on reading the whole internet, then with some statistical innovation try to guess the probable output of an input. The way it works now seems about right, probably a bit disappointing even.

I would also say, it seems cool and you could do that, but why would you? At least when the training is done it is cheap to use right? No!? What the actual fuck!

Hyperbole
player1234··on Why language models hallucinate
Why use a word that you have to redefine the meaning of? The answer is to deceive.
player1234··on Why language models hallucinate
There is no such thing as confidence regarding the actual facts, only confidence in probable output from the input. Factual confidence is impossible with current architecture.
player1234··on Why language models hallucinate
Correct, it is a useless term with the goal to gaslight and antropmorphise a system that predicts the next token.

Trillions different?
player1234··on Where's the shovelware? Why AI coding claims don't add up
Does not sound like a trillion dollar industry
player1234··on Are OpenAI and Anthropic losing money on inference?
Input inference i.e. reading is cheaper, output i.e. doing the generating is not, for something called generative AI sounds pretty fucking not profitable.

The cheap usecase from this article is not a trillion dollar industry and absolutely not the usecase hyped as the future by AI companies, that is coming for your job.

player1234··on LLMs and coding agents are a security nightmare
Why debate anything when everything, everywhere, all the time is actually super great, you are just holding it wrong.

player1234··on 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing – MIT report
Isn't there another problem with an employee coming routinely late to meetings, so much that the employee could use a service to bandaid this behavior, asking for a friend
player1234··on 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing – MIT report
Exactly brother! F the F-ing haters making gardening tips and recipes is a trillion dollar industry, maybe a trillion trillions even!
player1234··on AI is different
I trained no driving my first 16 years of life, seems like fuckkng hell your upbringing training nothing but driving the first 16 years. Your parents should be locked up.
player1234··on AI is different
Improve how? And when? Give us the map. Making a prediction straight into sci fi territory and then become worried about that future is hella lame.
player1234··on AI is different
The equivalent is the massive cost of CGI and LLMs in comparison to the lackluster end result.
player1234··on AI is different
And they cost 300 million to make be cause of the CGI fest they are, hence need close to a billion in profits when considering marketing and the theater cut. So the cost of CGI and the enshittification of movies seems to be a good analogy to the usefuleness of LLM/AI.

Not a flex.

player1234··on What if A.I. doesn't get better than this?
Powerful but we don't know how to use it? If it is as powerful as all you true believers spout the usefulness would be self evident and that would be the display of its power.

But apparently it is powerful just because you say so, and then something, something ... business model ...

player1234··on LLM Inevitabilism
It is only inevitable if there is trillions in ROI for these use cases or the money well will dry up, inevitably! How much is it worth to you?
player1234··on LLM Inevitabilism
Is it miraculous? We have spent hundreds of billions, trillions on reading the whole internet(training we call it) and with breakthroughs in statistics we can guess the next probable word and it makes sense to a pretty high degree. I think it works pretty much as you would expect does it not? With all that data read and all that money spent?

The impressive thing with the tech is that we(the humans) thought of it and through better hardware actually where able to do it. Super f-ing cool but in the end pretty pointless imo.

player1234··on LLM Inevitabilism
What literally useful functions worth the trillions needed for ROI are you talking about? What are the numbers? How did you measure it? Please share!
player1234··on LLM Inevitabilism
It's weird noone can measure and show us the numbers of this ultimate advantage. Is "ultimate advantage" in the room right now?
player1234··on LLM Inevitabilism
Technology has been stagnant for over 50 years, so it is easy to believe if you live in reality.

But sure if you exclusively look at the one field that has been advancing until about now I can see how one would end up where you are.

But this is exactly right, we are incrementally moving into the lamest cyberpunk future one can imagine, and we have been for some time.
