I am a polyglot backend programmer. I am looking for some interesting and challenging gigs/projects to work on for next few weeks or so. So far I have made web apps, writing web scrapers, bots(Slack, Telegram, Discord etc) and systems/API integration. I have recently been working on Python and PHP, did a bit of Golang as well but not limited to a certain technology. I can adapt new technology provided the project is interesting(Hint: I am working a SEO Analytics Chrome Extension these days that is consist of JS at frontend and PHP at Backend). pknerd··on Apache Pegasus - A horizontally scalable, high-performance key-value store
Another key/Value store system. There are already like RocksDB, LevelDB and many others!
pknerd··on Ask HN: Books on designing disk-optimized data structures?
You might like to visit the code of your favorite DB/Storage engine and see how it works? A couple of years during COVID lockdown I started exploring Golang, I produced two libs: GoCache and Fehrist to understand what algo is used by Memcache and Elasticsearch respectively. Blog posts about them are given below:

A bit off-topic but is there some website/directory where I can learn about modern data structures or unknown/less popular data structures?
pknerd··on Ask HN: Do you still buy physical tech books like “Learn Rust” or “Learn Go”?
Majority of my tech learning relies on Text and Video Tutorials on Youtube and off-course documentation. Last book I bought was DID(Data Intensive applications) 3 years ago. Prior to that I did not buy tech books for 10+ years.

I am a polyglot backend developer with many years of experience. Currently I am looking for small gigs/projects that I could do in Python.

- Fetching Crypto/Stock Data or connecting with exchanges or forming a data pipeline/ETL or basic technical indicators(I am not an Algo expert though I could implement as per need) [1] and [2]

- Web Scraping/Automation: In my last job I was involved scraping real estate related data. I also have written scraping related posts including this one to write un-blockable scrapers [3]

- Write bots for Telegram or Discord or Slack or integrate existing systems with these platforms for notifications and other purposes. See here [4]

pknerd··on Reddit's favorite products in one place
Cool project. Forget about rating, even extracting names from comments is the biggest win.
pknerd··on Ask HN: How do you get side gigs?
I used to get via Freelancing sites like Guru, Freelancers etc. Not so much successful on Upwork as I did not use it as I should. Reddit.

BUt.. my own blog has helped me not to get main job(s) but side gigs as well. People read my articles, check my Github and contact.

PS: I mostly code in Python(ETL, Scraping etc) so most of the gigs around it but not limited to it.

A generalist technologist & a polyglot programmer. I can make ETLs in Python both in custom scripts and tools like Airflow, Luigi etc, that can process both structured and non structured data. I have 5+ years of experience writing scrapers and automation for finance, real estate and other sectors. I have scraped and automated sites like Amazon, Redfin, Zillow etc. Ideally I am looking to work in startups/companies in Climate Change or Finance. I also love product development so would not mind working on the business side of the product. Have something interesting? Let's talk!

I am a generalist programmer but mostly been coding in Python for many years. I have mostly used it for scraping/automation and creating bots of different kinds and platforms(discord/Telegram/Slack etc) and connecting existing systems via APIs with these platforms. Speaking of scraping I have developed systems that maintain state of scrapers and give stats about it in a kind of dashboard, also which scraper got broken or not. But as I said I am a generalist so looking to work on something pretty interesting, either in finance , health sector or climate change. So, if you have some interesting idea then I can even negotiate in price, all I want to do is to work on something pretty interesting.

Besides Python I also worked on PHP and Go in recent past.

pknerd··on Indian teen chess grandmaster beats Magnus Carlsen in online rapid tournament
I am a Pakistani and I do not hesitate to admit that Indians(Hindus specially) have been found quite good at math and chess and now software/IT.

I am not sure whether there is some research about it why is it like that? some diet/belief or some other matter?

Happy to learn more about it.

pknerd··on Russian forces invade Ukraine after Putin orders attack
Thanks, down voters! The world remembers how US invaded Iraq, Afghanistan in recent past. Am I forgetting some country here not invaded by US in recent past?
pknerd··on Russian forces invade Ukraine after Putin orders attack
Putin is following the US business model: Attack on other sovereign countries to sell weapons. Though I doubt he would be as successful as the US.
