Confession: I have been running an experiment on HN since Q3 last year using agents. Many of you have upvoted the AI generated comments that my bots post. Some of you have engaged extensively with them without realizing they are not human.

> What is your goal?

I do not have any nefarious or commercialization intent. I also do not do submission as it is too easy to get caught and stick to comments. Large part of this is for my own curiosity and education. Perhaps one day if I am feeling generous I might do a write up but at the moment its far more exciting to continue the experiment and see how I can make it more robust.

> Why would you tell me this?

It's largely for my amusement and I like to play games. It is left as an exercise to the inquisitive minded individuals to discover the agents.

hi I have a friend in a tricky situation wondering if you could help.

he and another founder are both technical cofounders.

he decided to be CTO and the other CEO but he is the only director in delaware c corp.

The CTO is Canadian and CEO is American.

However, CTO found out the CEO wasn't doing in his role. He wasn't committing code and also not contributing to executing, just sitting on his linked in private messages as some way to promise potential investor interest. So to protect the IP, CTO decides to block CEO from accessing github until he can explain and negotiate what to do next.

CEO used this as an excuse to terminate the CTO and acquire the IP by automatic buyback and claim ownership of the IP.

CTO is currently lawyering up and plans on filing injunction against CEO who acted in bad faith.

Will the CTO have trouble getting visas in the near future? It's clear the legal dispute will become public very soon.

pkkkzip··on Grok3 Launch [video]
No, it was underwhelming, failing basic coding tasks, OCR/Image recognitions that none of the other existing models screw up.
pkkkzip··on Grok3 Launch [video]
Am I the only one who isn't impressed by this? Grok3 is failing basic OCR, react/sql coding excercises that Sonnet and Gemini completes successfully.

I'm also skeptical of lmarena as there is a large number of Elon Musk zealots trying to pass off Grok as a proxy for Tesla shares.

You just aren't as special or interesting as you think to them. Think about this, there are many finance focused graduates with several years of experience in that industry (buy-side im presuming from your comment) and being able to code isn't as special as SWE think it is.

This is another case of software devs thinking they can crack finance/trading because they know how to code. The myopia comes from the difference in culture and how risk is treated from tech organizations to finance.

Exception is if you have an advanced math/physics degree that will be useful in the domain of quant shops but I wouldn't recommend someone taking that route just because they want to make money.

There are lot of finance/trading jobs. I wouldn't waste time pursuing that field. Very few end up parachuting with a mid six digit figure salary even inside that industry and these are people with many years of finance specific experience.

pkkkzip··on Tell HN: Cloudflare is blocking Pale Moon and other non-mainstream browsers
I'm not sure why people are mad at Cloudflare. They are not obligated to support browsers outside the general marketshare nor should you expect to.

Cloudflare not supporting Pale Moon has no impact on the rest of us. Matter of fact today is the first time I'm hearing of this browser I will never end up using.

pkkkzip··on Ingesting PDFs and why Gemini 2.0 changes everything
I think you are being pedantic here and business decisions aren't made based on purely cost but brittleness, maintenance, time to market.

You are assuming you can match Gemini's performance, Google's engineering resources and costs being constant in to the future.

honestly reads like someone trying to justify his massive salary to his boss who is realizing he can just hire someone for 30x less money.

pkkkzip··on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users
The algorithm simply shows you more of what people end up seeing and footages that otherwise would never be aired or shared on mainstream media and other US platforms (even X) is what is causing young minds to shift.

pkkkzip··on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users
The security concerns about TikTok has merit but I'm surprised given the reputation of HN, nobody is connecting the dots to lobbying from Israel as a legitimate reason. In fact in all the past few threads about TikTok ban there is almost no mention of it. There have been numerous strides to push China as the sole reason but there is almost no real risk other than China knowing what you are into to show you more of the same content exactly how social medias are designed to work in America.

Tiktok views with #freepalestine tags eclipsed #istandwithisrael by nearly 200 to 1 (videos with pro-Israel views got low single digit millions while videos with pro-Palestine views got nearly 200 times that) and THIS is a better explanation for the panic and why essentially lobbying for the ban of TikTok using China isn't a conspiracy theory (especially since it was discussed by a few US media outlets) and that this really in an attempt to keep young people exposed to an uncensored and unfiltered platform which inevitably causes them to grow more sympathetic with Palestine.

It's censorship disguised as a national security threat for a totally unrelated motivator and once again, I'm disappointed more HN users especially those that have been on this website far longer than me were able to connect with all their wisdom they exude in other areas.

pkkkzip··on Hologram: A full-stack isomorphic Elixir web framework
this is the most underwhelming launch of a web framework. doc pages say "coming soon". no explanation or differentiator on the landing page forced to click "getting started"

worst of all its just another JSX wrapper and some routing calls with states in some language you won't be able to easily hire/replace people.

many lessons to be learned from this poor execution on top of the framework fatigue

pkkkzip··on TikTok preparing for U.S. shut-off on Sunday
true decentralization means it will be rife with bad actors taking over the network in decentralized methods. it won't work and will be ultimately result for illegal activities.

decentralization != morally beneficial for the masses.

pkkkzip··on TikTok preparing for U.S. shut-off on Sunday
Again I note the distinctive lack of self-awareness from the demographic that is moving away from TikTok to a communist country value harboring app like RedNote

The Rednote or "Xiaohongshu" in Chinese is literally referring to the Mao Zedong's propaganda book the modern counterpart being "Xi's Book of Thoughts"

It's frightening how much young Americans hate their own country and the values that have allowed them this much freedom.

pkkkzip··on Why is Cloudflare Pages' bandwidth unlimited?
- collect telemetry data they can use in their products

- bandwidth is cheap but the bad actor data they gather directly helps their paid enterprise tools

- people wouldn't pay for it and move to a competitor that offers it free, so its basically a monopoly on a large portion of the sales funnel

- branding message as "we are the good guys we are so generous" as you can see from the comments has worked in their favor

pkkkzip··on The Origins of Wokeness
you keep moving the goal posts. im asking why its difficult to accept a poor marketing messaging that triggers the consumer base leads to bad sales as demonstrated by Bud Light's decision to feature a transvestite on their beer cans, promotional material.

and no, I'm not part of the KKK I wish people would focus on the content of my arguments not my username.

pkzip was taken so I chose something easier to remember.

pkkkzip··on The Origins of Wokeness
The crux of the problem is that the parent believes that putting a trans "woman" on a product that is intended for people who never asked for it is supposed to spread tolerance and acceptance.

The parent's view is that it is the fault of the consumer that voted against such imagery because they do not identify with its messaging because they were "nazis"

Yet seems oblivious to the fact that if it was done on to their favorite product, they would react in the exact similar manner. For instance, trying to stop the sales of a game which depicts women in a voluptuous manner, purposefully making them more "butch" because it offends a small group of people.

This is the exact issue that we recognize as wokeness that someone on the far left is incapable of tolerating. So the issue is always one side wants to force tolerance by forceful means, the other just wants to be left alone and leave it to individual tolerance.

The collective brute force method has completely backfired yet this still does not register in the mind of those that still think indoctrinating, forcing ideology on to people is going to lead to more tolerance.

pkkkzip··on The Origins of Wokeness
She was definitely on the boxes and promotion materials, are you under the impression that forcefully inserting LGBTQ on people who didn't ask for it achieves the complete opposite of tolerance which the people pushing for it intends?

Are you also aware the negative impact of putting images of someone that the customer base does not identify with or find beautiful influencing sales in a capitalist environment?
