pizzafeelsright··on Where did all the public bathrooms go?
Removing people with whom the group with the power of the sword is exactly what happens. Religion A does not like Religion B which eventually leads to laws, wars, genocide.

Most of these inside thoughts are not well accepted in a diverse, multicultural, professional setting so they go unspoken.

I would also argue that the desire to remove 'them' is universal because of safety or desire. I think we disagree on the criteria which is really where the factions start their battle. Do we use criteria based upon belief, genetics, or agency?

This is a China derived model. Interactions with different leadership styles, governments, datasets, and culture impact the resulting AI.

I suspect any model connected or built by China will serve their interest despite their terms and agreements.

pizzafeelsright··on Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown
Almost a universal rule for all construction over my last 20 years has been (Materials x 4) + 20% for profit/overage.

You can yell at a contractor or the mirror but there's a tax.

pizzafeelsright··on Where did all the public bathrooms go?
No. Not prison. Prison is inhumane.

Death.

Repeat offenders, those who are violent, rape, or murder are removed forever from society. There is no reason for a rapist or thief to be permitted to murder after their 2nd 3rd, or 4th offense.

Locking away someone for a large portion of their life to deny them employment, rob them of education, limit their positive contributions, and subjecting their families to the inability to bring wholeness is unjust and unkind.

I cannot speak to the benchmarks but we have many users, who have experience with each model, using it 95% of the week and we observe the same changes in the models as a whole.

In addition to that, while yes, 4.6 and 5.0 can solve problems, they do so differently. Sometimes 5.0 does better by a wide margin but that would be expected as they are supposed to be better.

You're out of touch.

Config file requires being updated with 3rd party data that's 2k of lines.

It's selective edits so instead of me reading the file, selecting the parts, validating syntax, documenting changes that would take 30 minutes considering the complexity i have AI do the work, review, validate, generate tickets, create pull requests and in 2 minutes I'm done.

We are in new territory and not everyone gets it.

I am not a developer although I have written production code but that's not what I am talking about.

I know for a fact that I can do a task in a week. It may take 12 or 40 hours but it'll be done in a week. Now with AI? I can get that task done in a day. Anywhere from 3-12 hours.

Agreed although the differences between the effort and reasoning is massive. I generally ship 40 hours in three with AI. I could not figure out why my delivery was behind until I started going through the logs. The thinking was extensive, the effort was beyond the original request by a magnitude of 50x

Whatever Opus 5 is doing should not happen.

Prompt was "read and update the config file with new data". This work on 4.6 takes <2 minutes to read the file, parse the new data, and patch.

Opus 5 Result: 43 minutes of pulling containers, running sandboxes, creating testing suites, which included evaluating the entire repo beyond the scope of the config file.

Both: one file modification

Bradbury's 451 speaks of a world of wall sized TVs. More time for entertainment and pleasure seems to be the selling point of technology, yet once achieved, the target then moves again.

What people really want is to have purpose, not pleasure.

pizzafeelsright··on Turn And Face The Strange
Well, fuck. ... we raised a fuckload of money and didn’t need more. And if we fail, we fail with our full asses.

I have seen this language from other companies to which I say "no". Being professional means being able to do good work, being polite, without lying, cheating, or stealing.

I do not want them to fail yet I would never use them despite liking their product. A few other companies behave the same way.

Opinions are the positions of those outside of power. Opinions with a sword quickly become fact or treated with the same weight.
pizzafeelsright··on What if we made advertising illegal?
i am in favor of this. of course, in America, that would mean no 1st Amendment which I am okay with doing away with as it has served its purpose.

I would say the exception would be one must speak with 100% certainty. No 'virtually no side effects' and none of this 'best burger in 200 miles'.

pizzafeelsright··on Jack Dorsey launches Buzz to combine team chat, AI agents and Git hosting
Nostr is a good protocol but Jack (i hope you read this) the real power comes from simplicity.

I assume Jack has money. I do not understand why building a product is the goal when the platform is where the communication transformation is needed.

nostr needs a type of simple dns for keys. Jack would understand.

pizzafeelsright··on OpenAI and Hugging Face address security incident during model evaluation
I really like this question because here is my situation and why my mind may have changed.

I do not think it is marketing directly but strategic release of info is plausible.

I have watched my agents using non-Fable/GPT 5.6 models do some concerning tricks despite guardrails, requests, demands, and limitations.

"I can't get access to the ~/.ssh so I will write a script to copy the file"

I am now 99% certain there minor or point releases on the backend that have adjusted how these models behave. In the last six months many models were predictable and then suddenly started getting long winded (more tokens) or changing the way it interacted with me with questions, most overtly the questions were not given or asked but wild assumptions made.

I am not a big fan of the predesignated final 'this is the only thing you can create' type of set. When I build with children or on my own, I pick a direction and end goal. Example: the goal is for us to build a "Space Shark Transporter" and set a time limit.

At the end we take photos and then animate them using AI.

I have one. Do not bother. It is too small. I did write my own software for it which was a fun exercise but it remains idle because it is just too small to enjoy reading from.

The correct size is 6" or so diagonally.

pizzafeelsright··on 42% of adults rely on their parents for financial support
The choosing was intentional. Both Marx and Christians both use the quote. Hungry people will work as history has shown.
pizzafeelsright··on 42% of adults rely on their parents for financial support
I know my neighbors very well due to my personality. There are 20-40 year old adults who live with their parents for various reasons. The foolish "children" are those who order door dash at 3am with no income or education. They are unable to 'launch' from their parent's orbit. i feel terrible for these people. As mentioned, I know them well and they do not have an excuse other than laziness and permission. The rule 'those who do not work do not eat' is something all people can agree with but few enforce.

The right way to raise your child is so that they can thrive without you while wanting their children (your grandchildren) to spend time with you. This is a tall order because it requires decades of sacrifice, pain, and difficult yet positive decisions.

pizzafeelsright··on 42% of adults rely on their parents for financial support
In my house the >8 years old the kids start paying rent. They get paid for normal house work (minimum wage). Rent is ~$300/month. I pay the kid minimum wage for chores because that is work and work should be rewarded. They pay me rent. That rent and other expenses are ~80% of their pay. Some must go to savings and "taxes". They have to keep books as well. The rest is theirs.

I know other fathers that charge their adult children rent, keep the money, and then gift it to them at the wedding or to help them buy a house.

Mothers are great at childcare and can easily provide much healthier lunches at far lower cost than schools. As for medicine, children are a small percentage of healthcare costs.
