Also, climate change is not “introduced”, it’s 100% human-made.

Then you can’t have trillion dollar monopolies with billionaire owners funding fascist regimes.

I like this comment because of its brutal honesty.

“They don’t want <bad thing> so they choose <equally bad thing good for their revenue>”

piyuv··on How a single line of code could brick your iPhone
Lots of credible apps use lots of dependencies. Find an abandoned one, get your code into it, …
piyuv··on Adobe deletes Bluesky posts after backlash
They sell the debts of the users who do this to law firms, which then collect those debts with scary legal letters. Works most of the time. I don’t know if those law firms actually follow with lawsuits when it doesn’t.
piyuv··on Experimental release of GrapheneOS for Pixel 9a
I wish I didn’t have to pay google of all companies to escape Apple.
piyuv··on Show HN: A website/app to help manage your game library

piyuv··on Stay on schedule with Raspberry Pi Pico W and an e-ink dashboard
This is so cool. But I think they’re 2 different devices: aimed at end users vs hackers/tinkerers.

piyuv··on Nintendo unveils Switch 2 ahead of June 5 launch
I don’t dare boycott gaming companies because then I’d be stuck with indie games on itch.io. While they aren’t always bad, they’re not my cup of tea.

All 3 major gaming companies are horrible in their own ways. Just like both major smartphone platforms. The times we live in…

piyuv··on Raising Kids to Have an Analog Childhood in a Digital World
Granted I haven’t finished the article yet, but seems like the author and their SO are on their high horses and built a house of cards. The collapse will be magnificent, around the time the kids start school. Sure, be rich enough and you can postpone it by homeschooling or extra special rich kid schools; but sooner or later real world will catch up. Peers with TikTok accounts asking your kids “yo have you seen it? Check it out: skibidi toilet”

I’ve read more controlled introductions to real world for kids before and I think that is a better approach. “Tablet bad, analogue good” is just too reductionist.

I mean, yes? Where you can put one president in jail (for trying to demolish democracy and establish oligarchy/autocracy), you can put a next one in jail too (if they try to do the same)

This is called upholding the constitution and it’s fundamental for a democracy. If you say president is immune, you get current US.

piyuv··on xAI has acquired X, xAI now valued at $80B
South Korean president is jailed for trying to coup, no? So there’s precedent.

piyuv··on Samsung CEO Jong-hee Han has died
Because of their stress levels and possible smoking/drinking/drugs? I don’t buy into “yeah they’re rich/famous but that’s a lot of stress” narrative.
piyuv··on I made AI fix my bugs in production for 27 days straight – lessons learned
> So did I end up saving any time by building this? Honestly no lol — it took way longer to build it than to just solve the bugs.

Love the honesty. Don’t tell me it can pay off the in the long run
