pixiemaster··on I got into YC (Startup School) by hacking it
sure….
pixiemaster··on Anthropic says Alibaba used 25k accounts to mine Claude
you can reverse engineer the whole thing with just 25k accounts?

don’t let the stock market hear that.

pixiemaster··on Anthropic raises $30B in Series G funding at $380B post-money valuation
in dollar yes. if you use the Swiss Franc as baseline, not.
pixiemaster··on Using AI generated images to get refunds
I was consulting for an insurance company once. they even had examples of some of their employees to get insurance money for broken things, using their internal example pictures….
pixiemaster··on iPhone Air
legal, and also: if you already have been diagnosed, you should already be under medical professional supervision (meds, checkups,…) anyway.

my guess is this is more like the heart irregularities feature: it’s for the first diagnosis. (a relative of mine actually got diagnosed that way)

pixiemaster··on Tesla dumped 75% of its Bitcoin at one of the worst times, losing billions
whom did it sell it to? buying cheap bitcoin ahead of an expected rally…
pixiemaster··on Russian UVB-76 radio station broadcasts burst of mysterious messages
latin „propagare“ :-)
pixiemaster··on Booking.com says typos giving strangers access to private trip info is not a bug
I wonder how that could be exploited.
pixiemaster··on Something weird is happening with LLMs and chess
I have this hypothesis as well, that OpenAI added a lot of „classic“ algorithms and rules over time, (eg rules for filtering etc)
pixiemaster··on 300 people applied to rent $700/month sleeping pods in downtown San Francisco
Daily Recurring Renting…
pixiemaster··on Love being interrupted when my monitor asks me to accept user agreements

pixiemaster··on Zapata AI Ceases Operations
usually:

- missed payments on interests - failed positive guidance on going-concern - missed intermediate milestones (b2b contracts basically give you any possibilities legally wise)

pixiemaster··on Covid-19 Intranasal Vaccine
nasal flu is heavily used in scotlands schools, wheee flu vaccination is mandatory.
pixiemaster··on How much money we can raise for transparently idiotic startups?
yes that’s the real bubble here. it’s practically a pyramid scheme owned by the hyperscalers.
pixiemaster··on Story points are pointless, measure queues
Well history in IT repeats itself in cycles. look up #NoEstimates for good and thoughtful content about this topic, and various anecdotes for inspiration. then derive your own conclusions.
pixiemaster··on ChatGPT just (accidentally) shared all of its secret rules
yeah, but that is not a hard restriction, since prompts are fuzzy
pixiemaster··on Will we ever get fusion power?
there is some fundamental thing that attracts humans to big things.

technical challenges aside, fusion power as a research + building + disvtributil project is so expensive - for the same amount of money we could already build a decentralized solution out of over-abundant solar cells, but it seems looking for the one big thing is still more interesting.

pixiemaster··on Google DeepMind shifts from research lab to AI product factory
well actually i don’t think google has good PMs - besides adwords and android, there are no really successful products.
pixiemaster··on AI in software engineering at Google: Progress and the path ahead
every expert i talk to says: „LLMs are not good for my domain, but for $other_domain“
pixiemaster··on ASML and TSMC Can Disable Chip Machines If China Invades Taiwan
I think western mindsets overemphasizes time. What i could glimpse at chinese strategy from my taiwanese colleagues, they assume it’s more of a 200-500yr plan.
pixiemaster··on Boeing and NASA move forward with historic crewed launch of new spacecraft
well in this case the alternative are probably Space Karens FullSelfPiloting RoboRocket
pixiemaster··on Tesla recalls all cybertrucks for faulty accelerator pedals
how about 7hour shifts and enough pay to sustain a family with that?
pixiemaster··on OpenAI: Start using ChatGPT instantly
my interpretation: MAU are going down rapidly and they need a KPI to counter that
pixiemaster··on Tesla Cybertruck owners who drove 10k miles say range is 164 to 206 miles
this.
pixiemaster··on Google paid $26.3B in 2021 to be the default search engine
sorry to be bad about this, but why should „all americans“ be insightful, sufficient or relevant? that’s like a „libraries or congress“ scale.

btw: Kagi is perfect!

pixiemaster··on Sergey Brin's airship gets FAA clearance
no need to wait, helicopter tech is good enough for nearly all situations, some billions would help enough, rather than investing those into some kind of pipedream. Cargolifter already tried.
pixiemaster··on Blue Frontier and its energy-efficient AC
Slashdot needs an „Advertorial“ moderation type.
pixiemaster··on Google quietly raised ad prices to boost search revenue
well you don’t know the other bids, or if they even exist….
pixiemaster··on There's something off about LED bulbs
i had a similar view, until i found COB LED stripes (with dimmers), with 20W per m (LED W, not equivalent, i have mounted a few of those 3-10m (!), and now can have dimmed 1% background lights and hospital style brightness as well.
pixiemaster··on Japan adopts plan to make maximum use of nuclear power
With an aggressive China at my door, i‘d build nuclear reactors as well, and not for energy use only.
